And his wife (prolly) talking about the security guard picking up the ball beyond the bar.

He had to have lost money on that game or something. He is in full blown shock and denial. Rewinding and standing inches from the tv. It's a great reaction tho. It really was that big of an upset - completely unthinkable for Tennessee after years of being in the cellar to knock off Alabama during their prime years.

Played at Old Natchez a few weeks ago. Stunk the place up. What is it with not worrying about your score and playing as if you're Usain Bolt? We played 18 in 3:45, were pushed all day, got dirty looks continually. I got to watching and these folks weren't even playing golf. It was like that old beer commercial when the guy would drive up to hole and just say "that's a gimmie".

With a new, relatively "unknown" coach in year two, after being left for dead...by a diehard Bama guy who played for/coached for the Tide.

And last year's team wasn't substantailly different from that 7-6 team. (We lost Payton but added Bru). If anything it was a little more injured given Tillman. There was no real reason to expect such a big jump. It was just the offense finally clicking into place and the WRs finally being where they're supposed to be and catching balls instead of dropping them. Also, incremental improvements on D (still not a great D but one that improved from the year prior).

I'm not sure any player who is extremely religious and doesn't have thick skin is going to feel comfortable at any big-time college football program, tbh. We had a kid that transferred out not too long ago under Butch because he didn't like being cussed at.
Butch stood that kid up in front of the team…. Berated him and called him a p-sy and such.

Forgot to change your adult diaper?

The D went from given up 31.5 ppg to 22.7 ppg…..They were the biggest reason for our improvement…. If they take another step forward…. Watch out!

Yes.

Give me Jeff Bezos as "head coach"

Josh Heupel as "assistant coach"

...count down the months to having a billion dollar stadium, facilities, and roster 🤔

[In all seriousness] - given a guy like Urban is unlikely returning to the game...move on to Saban...but he'll likely only give you 5-7 years. Enough to fully revive the program and maybe that's worth it(?) Also get to harm Bama hugely...

With Kirby you'd have the best defensive scheme in the country. But could he recruit as well to UT as he has with UGA, being a UGA grad himself and the talent there? No, but it would be very good. Ofc ours is pretty darn good rn. So basically just trading the #1 offense for #1 defense (more like ~top 10 with not as elite talent). So, no thanks.

Urban or Saban, think you have to. But that's where my list ends. Dabo is far too cringey, otherwise he'd make the list too...and even then only if Venables followed.
Eff Urban

It wasn't being cussed at. It was being made fun of because he did not cuss. In front of the entire team he made him get up in front of them and repeat over and over again the word pus s you get the point. It was a TE who transfer to Duke and had a fine college career under Cut.

He purposely had the team ridicule and make fun of him. Plenty of UT guys now including our coach made not be perfect but do profess and do their best to walk a Christian walk. Look at the book Herndon wrote. Culture at Georgia is no where close to what is at UT now and yes, you do not have to be a Christian to not want you child riding over 100 mph in cars with drunk staff members.

Under Butch was the key phrase here. Jones culture was toxic. Apologies & respect to those players who tolerated it.

If they can't handle playing for Butch then playing for Kirby or Saban is completely out of the question. The players ran the program under Butch. Not saying what happened was OK but there's a reason he ended up at a place like Duke.
