Nah…**** that! The MLB Player’s Union under Don Fehr had an undefeated streak in any negotiations and were steadfastly against testing. That fueled open season with cheating. Owners knew it was pointless to fight so they rolled with the noise and the money…until Congress intervened. If the owners were as complicit in the farce, they wouldn’t have been so proactive and aggressive with drug testing and penalties when enabled. If the players could have cycled off with plenty of advance notice, it wouldn’t be a fact currently. The players can soak in their own urine that their union helped pour.

How did the union get so powerful? Owners didn’t want to mess with their cash cow. You seriously going to try to play the owner integrity card???

They are the owners. They could have stuck to their guns long before things got out of hand with the player’s union. How are NFL owners more successful vs their players union?

I am going to disagree a little here; IMHO intent does matter

An example: nothing illegal about buying a handgun in Colorado. Nothing illegal about renting a car in Denver. Nothing illegal about sitting on a street corner outside the bank in my neighborhood observing when the guard takes his break

But if I did all three of those things with the INTENT to rob the bank, at gunpoint, and use the car for my getaway... I am going to get convicted of bank robbery

Got any examples of someone being sentenced for sitting across the street from a bank with a legally purchased handgun? How about even arrested? How did the police know “intent” without an ATTEMPT?

It’s a common theme when you get blasted by them. I don’t find Tom Osborne to be under the Urban Meyer tree of ethics… all the reports on him are outstanding. Just rival fans at the time of getting absolutely whooped jealous. No proof of anything of that nature. Give them their flowers

Could they have? What “guns”? After they lost the Curt Flood case that enabled free agency and were liable for collusion, they were disarmed. They proposed testing for controlled substances and the Union demanded a concession to even bring it to the table.

Seeing steve spurrier at halftime telling the reporter they’re whooping us always makes me laugh. He thought they’d whoop Nebraska. At least he didn’t make any unfounded claims of cheating like some other fans teams that got whooped and couldn’t get over it

Greatest "hitter" implies who actually had the most hits. And despite having similar length in career, Pete had over 1000 more hits than Bonds.

I remember steve irwin going into mountains of VA, looking for Timber Rattlers. He found snake ball after snake ball. Hundreds of Timber Rattlers cling together.

Idk, you followed it more closely than I did and I don’t like sounding like I’m carrying water for Bonds or any of those guys. He’s a horrible human and I’m not a fan of any of the other guys either. I just think it’s disingenuous to act like MLB wasn’t loving the money and attention during those years.

Best thing I ever read about Ted Williams was an old Sports Illustrated article. Ted was watching batting practice at spring training one year and a reporter heard Ted saying “with- across” when the reporter asked what was up Ted‘s buddy replied he’” saying if the batter hit the ball along the seams or across the seams”. I believe Ted was in his 50’s at the time.
