Same. Did my junior year of college in Florence

IMHO need to remain in Naples only long enough to have a pizza. Naples is the industrial shipping center of Italy; think rail yards, tower cranes, and cargo containers

That’s pretty much what she said about Naples too. She is in love with Florence though and from the stories, I definitely get it. Jealous of y’all’s experiences there. I’m going to surprise her with a trip back on one of our anniversaries. Wanted to do it for our 5th this year but 2 kids under 2 through that out the window. Can’t wait until they’re a little older and can drop them off with the grandparents and go. 😅

The effort has to be there. Players have to learn how to "strain" in this offense and that has nothing to do with natural talent. It's part of the reason why a lot of OL don't come here. You have to be on a different level of in-shape. Yes, that could change...but right now there is nowhere near that level of self commitment with Johnson. Take a guy like John Campbell. He transferred in and completely transformed his body in the off season. So did Castles at TE.
Both Campbell and Castles were starters in four year programs and are in their last year of eligibility. Different curve. I don’t disagree with your effort point, just don’t know why you’re applying it to Johnson. Lot of speculation based on what? Things you’re hearing? Blurb on VQ? Carts outpacing their horses imo.

One of their latest arguments is because Hooker wasn’t that good at VT and became a phenom at Tennessee that Mertz will do something similar.
Any argument used for the rise of Graham Mertz can be used for Joe Milton, but one of them has an offensive/quarterbacking savant as their HC and the other has Billy Napier.

the collective ties them to terms that they would be unable to meet if they attended any other school or lived in any other town.

i.e. random signing at such and such business at 8:15am on Tuesday, in-person radio show post-game for these home games, in-person meet and greet for collective members sunday morning at 10am, so on and so on

Understand that. Couldn't they still uphold that end of the bargain until signing day, cash some checks, and then bolt?

Is all such murky water and I honestly have no idea. Just some thoughts I had on it.

We love Italy and Florence is special.

Patience. The trip will happen for you. That is a great anniversary surprise.

What REAL “reports” are we getting tho? I don’t think he’s ready for the pace and style of this OL just yet, but he has a redshirt to burn and everything else to develop. Anybody else here seriously believe Ollie Lane and Jackson Lampley would be realistic options as recently as one year ago?
Yeah the dude is just too fat and hasn't he been injured?

I'm not surprised we will rely on those guys

6th year senior offensive linemen are often pretty valuable.

they have been LOUD on social media ab this season. I been seeing a lot of this as you have.

I know the line dropped bc Rising from Utah is uncertain but i think Utah is now severely undervalued. Going into Salt Lake to face Kyle Whittingham's boys while relying on Graham Mertz should never have a fanbase so confident. That defense could eat him alive.
Okay, thanks!

Agree on Naples. The only thing there is a really good museum, National Archaeological Museum. Go to Pompeii and on to Amalfi Coast.
My wife and I started in Rome, did a day trip to Florence, and then at the end of our trip did the high speed train down to Naples. We didn't do anything in Naples. We stopped at Pompeii and walked through it, which was really interesting, on our way to the Amalfi coast, staying at Positano. While there, we did the Path of the Gods, and it was the highlight of the entire trip. We hired a driver to take us up to Bomerano, and then hiked the Path of the Gods trail all the way back to Positano. The views are amazing. If you do it, take a CamelPak and plenty of snacks.

Billy Napier runs a slow paced ball control
Kirby Smart, Jim Tressel, Nick Saban, Les Miles type of offense. It’ll be next to impossible for Mertz to suddenly put up tremendous numbers in that system. He could be more efficient than AR to keep it running better although again he also came from a similar offense at Wisconsin with Paul Christ and wasn’t exactly spectacular

He played well at Oregon but he was replaced at Auburn with T.J. Finley🤨🤨🤨 in a game he was horrible in but your rite I concede Mertz didn't set the world on fire at Wisconsin...
Bo’s issue was consistency…… he would light it up one moment and throw throw three ints the next… Mertz was consistently bad/mediocre at Wisconsin….
