We've not played with a full roster yet. Missing James and Aidoo big today, as well as Uros staying in foul trouble. Even then, if they made their free-throws and easy layups, today's game isn't close.
we could have had them down 30+ at half if they didn't make us play with that ball of wound up rubber bands.

We are looking at the portal. But there will be more guys enter after the bowl games and after spring practice. Coaches can find opportunities in the spring window, too. They're taking their time and looking for right-fit guys, not just the bigger names. If they're uncertain about fit or think there's someone better, they're holding off on taking the commitment.
I’m really glad they are concerned about fit. At the same time I am afraid fans are just going to look at who’s highly ranked and be disappointed when we don’t go after the higher ranked ones.

Fans want wins. When we over achieve again with a bunch of losers that some fans didn’t want, they won’t even remember this moment in time.

I like to look at average class rating to judge overall quality but not overly concerned with individuals.

Could be just me but I am cautious when it comes with JUCO players. Savion Williams and Darrel Middleton come to mind.

Fans want to be at the top. When they're constantly bombarded by other fans saying other teams are "more talented" then they want to see their own team get that talent, too.

Seriously, all year, I've heard other Tennessee fans say, "I can't wait until we're as talented as <insert team>". So, are we now going to say that doesn't matter? This year we were spoiled by Heupel succeeding faster than we imagined, but it also shows, we are a fanbase that wants to be in that playoff picture. I'm not advocating signing guys of poor character who don't fit the culture, but we still need to be signing top talent.

And I would never refer to this team as "a bunch of losers".

Do you also consider all the JuCos who were success stories at UT, because there have been many?

Not sure why Heup has to keep proving himself. Since he’s got here he’s underwhelmed fans with his decisions yet he’s proven to be right every time.
It's not about Heupel proving himself. But are you telling me you think our defense was okay this year. If so, then you definitely didn't see the SCar game where they pooped the bed in a major way.

Everyone knows our offense is spectacular. I've come to accept that our defense will never be quite what I would like it to be just because of our tempo. But it still needs to be a good defense. And there were times this year it was not. So when it comes to offense, Heupel doesn't have to prove a damn thing. But when it comes to defense, he still needs to figure it out. No way can our secondary continue to play as poorly as it has and us compete at the top level.

Any of you all make your own "Chex" mix?
Nuts ‘n Bolts is the official recipe. Something like this…

1-2 cups each of:
Corn Chex
Rice Chex
Wheat Chex
Cherrios
Pretzels
Cheese-its
Mixed nuts

Melt two sticks of butter with a couple tablespoons of worchesterchire and 1 teaspoon of celery seed, then mix then one with the Chex mixture. Bake a couple hours on 300°-ish, mixing every 30 minutes.

That’s pretty close to it just from memory. About to smoke some later this week to give it extra flavor so I can tell you more details later. Bonus flavor: go Honey Nut Cheerios to go more sweet and savory.

Are you sure? Mine just looks at me like….”why don’t you like to make Homemade Christmas ornaments?”

Hang a stocking or an ornament from it and maybe that will work? I used to put a new shirt or other article of clothing I bought her on a coat hanger and then hang the coat hanger from it. Was always good for a laugh, then a " you're so thoughtful" and then the results I wanted, LOL. I recommend plastic and not wire coat hangers, though!

But until then there’s going to be a lot of moaning and declarations of doom.
It gets old...and if the defense struggles at all, or if th offense goes from #1 to say #12, then those declarers of doom will go on and on and on about how Heupel can't cut it at this level and we need somebody better to get us to "the next level".

Just the thoughts of hearing that 🦬💩 really pisses me off.

Ok

I mean, I've seen a couple of DBs out there that I really hoped we were after. All year, all I've heard people say is our secondary is bad because of lack of talent. Now, we have a chance to improve on that and we're standing pat? That's frustrating.

Those of us who have been critical of Banks and Martinez this season have constantly been told they just don't have the talent to work with. If they're happy with who they have and don't look to improve, that excuse vanishes IMO.
Last year our secondary was injured most of the preseason…. It’s really hard to improve in season due to practice constraints…. Last year… we needed bodies but next year we have more than enough. We have:
Burrell
Turnage
Hadden
Williams ( does staff feel that he will be a good cb)
Charles CB/S/NB
Matthews
Gibson
conyer

We are pretty deep at corner…. Our veterans are number 2 type corners…. We desperately need a number 1…. Will Dee Williams or a freshman be that guy? No one knows but the staff…. If we can grab a number one type of guy that would be ideal but we don’t need to just add quantity.

More Worcestershire please. 😊

This right here. We saw flashes from some guys on the roster and they should be healthy enough to improve in the off season. Add a possible starter in the portal and have one of the incoming recruits play well enough to get in the 2 deep at CB and we will be fine. I am much more worried about LB's.

You would think that Dee Williams has the talent, based on his punt returns, but strange that he didn't get much PT with all the injuries we had. Hopefully, he can take a big step this spring.
