Just read a story last week about how pervasive stealing signals is now in CFB, and how many programs put a lot of effort into doing it, and thus why we have the 3 amigos over there carrying on every play to disguise the true call...I didn't make that up out of thin air.

Oh I know you're not making it up. I'm just saying you'd get limited benefit even if you were successful at stealing them. And that I don't think it would be hard to steal them even if they're encoded if you're determined. They're playcalls not the Allied Plans for Normandy so while they're going to be guarded they're not going to be so coded that need an enigma machine or Apache to break the code.

That’s not exactly a great argument against the new running clock rules because everybody would have been better off if TCU wasn’t in the playoffs last season.

I know that...but there are a lot of math-brained people that excel at decoding cypher...which is exactly what it is. You record all the data and analyze it to recognize patterns.

Hopefully we have a strategy for changing it up from week to week...sure we do.

He did pretty well in that game...but I'm talking about one of those superstar 30-35 for 400 and 5 kind of games. I thought I made that clear.

Someone will stop our run and force us to win on his arm.

If you watch this game, Virginia focused on stopping the pass with 2 high safeties most of the game. They thought their DL could win 1 on 1 matchups and stop the run. That’s why we ran it 52 times. We didn’t take a lot of deep shots because they gave us a light box against the run.

Did they change any clock rules other than run it on first down? They only stopped it for 5 or so seconds to set the chains anyway, how would that account for 40 fewer snaps?

And yet...they do it and put a lot of effort into it...pretty sure they would not if there was limited benefit. I am pretty sure coaches know more about what is important than me or you either one.

Your argument is that YOU don't think it is worthwhile, but the people whose lives depend on those inches here and there for the winning edge definitely think it is....I think I will go with their judgment on this.
