Concerns, maybe unfounded, about our offense.

Last year our offense was built on multiple plays from the same offensive looks creating conflict within the opponents defense. We thrived on picking apart defenses.... Save two games..... Which we lost.

Saturday I didn't see a lot of conflict being created.... We had our way with an inferior opponent..... And that's ok. Just wondering how worried should we be with the departure of key offensive staff?
The only offensive staff that matters is Heupel…. I would guess that we didn’t see a lot of creativity bc we didn’t need any. Virginia was an inferior opponent.

My man @bignewt 🥹 it’s all about the…..

From Cole Cubelic (via @Freak):
TENNESSEE: Thought QB looked great. Couple balls he took a tad off but still gassing some he doesn't need to. RB room loaded. Had a few good misses with ball placement. OL better than I thought with C out. The rotation there will help. Coleman was awesome at LT. Need to get 54 on the other side. WRs are legit. The DL exceeded expectations. Pass rush was big time. 37 & 30 were ripping off the edge. 9 made plays all over. 2nd & 3rd level took themselves out of a few plays but easily correctable. Liked what I saw on both sides. More impressive win than folks will say.

We throw based on how the defense lines up. It’s a numbers game. If they play 2 deep safeties all game, then we will indeed throw short passes. We will occasionally get a deep one like the one Keyton dropped. But we will keep a defense honest the way we teach the QB how to read the defense.

Can’t like this enough. If you learn to count the box, you can tell if we are about to run or pass on 80% of plays. Then, you can start to recognize when defenses play games with how they load the box. Some will bring the nickel in to the box at the snap. Then we will start throwing screens to that side because that’s where the numbers advantage is.

Like you said, it’s all a numbers game. Joe’s job is to make the defense wrong. The fact that we ran the ball with such success is a credit to Joe’s ability to run the offense.

Holy smokes👀 check out the tweets in this article 😭😂😂

Who’s does this sound like? BJ?

Brian Kelly

“There are still areas that are going to need to be improved. We’re going to take 15 freshmen on this trip and 14 transfers so nearly 40% of this travel roster are going to go overnight for the first time with LSU.“

Thought the same.

Next quote will be: "When I got to LSU, there were no players that care. Now there are. I'm proud that we have players that care."

Remember the Tod and Kim Klubnik fan club will be meeting at Glitch's house at 7:30 tonight. As club president, Glitch will be serving hors d'oeuvres. Probably those little cocktail weenies. He loves him some cocktail weenies. Not that I'm judging.

You making them in the crockpot with grape jelly and stuff?

I think the worries are legit. The big drop by Keyton really sucked because it was Milton’s first deep ball and it was on the money. Milton missed a couple throws that stalled us but overall was much better than his previous starts. Again that deep ball should have been caught. I hope we just had such an easy time with Virginia Huepel didn’t need to do
Much else. Let our offense line have more time to work out kinks. But I left the game feeling the same way, I hope the offense doesn’t regress too bad with new qb and play caller. I will say nico looks like he could command the offense. In a worse case scenario I’d still wager nico could get us to 7-8 wins then a bowl game. Maybe exceed that you never know. I’m expecting joe to get better each game. Let’s remember last year that at Pitt we started slow. Maybe this is similar for our offense. We haven’t even started getting our playmakers involved outside rb room.

Defense played much better than I expected. Not perfect, and not sure if it’s Virginia not being good but it’s an ACC opponent. We let way worse teams rack up yards previously.

I think at Florida is going to give us a good feel for how we fare against the better teams this year. They will be ready to go, we have to survive their initial surge and take care of business. We need to
Come in and stomp their emotions before they believe they can win.
Milton has started 3 games…. We scored 50 points twice….. 31 against Clemson which is more than Hendon scored against Pitt in regulation…. The offense is Heup’s baby so the play caller shouldn’t be a concern….. I think the main concern with Milton is if we play a game where we have to score every single possession like Florida/ Alabama…. Will he be efficient enough to do that? Hopefully…. Our defense plays better and we don’t have to play any games like that.
