Bama dropped safeties back 20 yards every play in the second half basically and still got killed over the top. I get it’s Virginia and you don’t need to take the risk like you do vs Bama, but it’s still an observation
Nope, we’re freaking out because you don’t take skin cancer risk seriously.
So if @PlanetVolunteer gets a sunburn, is that proof of global warming?
Teams with good-great fronts that can close down our running game and that can press our recievers hard (eg:UGA) are always going to be a problem for this offense...I bet we see that from Bama this year too.Milton has started 3 games…. We scored 50 points twice….. 31 against Clemson which is more than Hendon scored against Pitt in regulation…. The offense is Heup’s baby so the play caller shouldn’t be a concern….. I think the main concern with Milton is if we play a game where we have to score every single possession like Florida/ Alabama…. Will he be efficient enough to do that? Hopefully…. Our defense plays better and we don’t have to play any games like that.
Teams will play zone against Tennessee most of the season , Tennessee has too many guys who can win the one on one battles.... When people do play man up that's when you will see Thornton go off he is too big and fast for a Corner or safety to cover solo..... To me Bru is more of a possession receiver than all Tennessee receivers the others are more game breakers....Bama dropped safeties back 20 yards every play in the second half basically and still got killed over the top. Yep...that is what I would do too...but who knows about Sunbelt Billy, little of what they do makes sense. After Saturday I'd expect Florida to sell out against the run and force Milton to beat you over the top.
He will.
But that's your best bet if you're Florida. Hope he is off and the WRs keep having the drops.
Not the same situation.Bama dropped safeties back 20 yards every play in the second half basically and still got killed over the top. I get it’s Virginia and you don’t need to take the risk like you do vs Bama, but it’s still an observation
Georgia playing press is a dangerous game for them with Tennessee receivers....a couple of slants for Touchdowns or a couple of out and ups for Touchdowns will cause Kiby to give a 5 Yard cushion on outside or play zone which in turn will help open up Tennessee running game...Teams with good-great fronts that can close down our running game and that can press our recievers hard (eg:UGA) are always going to be a problem for this offense...I bet we see that from Bama this year too.
We will still get several opportunities for big plays against even the greatest (eg:UGA) defenses we play.
The question is do we make those plays or not. Joe can NOT be Overthrow Joe in those games, and the recievers can NOT blow the opportunities which will be at a premium against those defenses.
It really is pretty simple...we are always going to destroy poor-mediocre defenses, destroy or handle good defenses, and struggle to beat great defenses if we don't make the limited number of big plays that will be available.
