My feelings as well. Our rush defense was magical this year. Overall, a solid defense. Let's see Y3...maybe Y4...then make your decisions all you want in the offseason. Need to stop making snap-neck decisions.

I’ll give you that. I supported him as long as he was our coach (Jack can go back in his hole before calling me out), but he never embraced wearing the color orange.

Probably nothing more than posting memories from his recruitment and time with Tennessee. You can see he posted two other photos but we're shown this one just to get some folks worked up for no reason.

Nope, you completely missed the point. I posted that because it weird to post a recruiting pic from the coach that brought you to UT. It’s odd. It’s like posting a memory with a girl you used to date that didn’t end that awful but still awkward lol

It wasn’t so much that we didn’t want him, it was the way Curry was conducting the search, but I’m sure you know that already.

I’m sure you know all the details. Leach was never this boards first choice for any of our coaching vacancies. Again, I’ll miss him being around the sports world.. super interesting guy. Not HOF level football coach, imo.

Supposedly his UT career is over and we as fans shouldn’t care one bit bc he didn’t care enough to keep his grades in order to even play for a university that’s given plenty of chances

The excuse is injuries. Every team has injuries. Our secondary isn't even in the same area code as the receivers. If they were close to making plays I'd be willing to entertain lack of talent. They're not close to making plays most of the time.

If our receivers played half as bad as our secondary, there would be no end to the bellyaching on VN.

Leach was an awesome personality and his stories will be told forever, but let’s be real - he’s not a hall of fame coach

He's deserving of the hall of fame for his career, but mostly because he's literally changed the sport of football and his influence has reached every level of the game. Football is what it is today, in how its played, because of Mike Leach.

I seem to recall the speculation on that at the time was twofold 1. certain boosters that are no longer as powerful/involved as they once were didn't want and 2. there was a fear that although most thought he'd do well here that his system and the players he recruited for it, wouldn't outlive his tenure (kinda ironic now)

Truthfully, it probably had more to do with AD who got fired trying to hire him without telling the BOT and going incognito for days than anything else. We had very few options after the AD was cut loose and I don't think Leach's name came up after.

I actually don't see it as too odd if it's something that popped up on his FB or SC memories or something. 5 years ago today he probably got that in house visit from the staff and silently committed. It was 12/20/2017 when Banks announced his committment to UT. So he was probably just sharing the memory that popped up from then.

One of the cooler stories I’ve heard was how Belichick went to Leach asking how to best use Wes Welker (Leach was Welker’s coach at TX Tech). That has basically changed the way NFL teams value and use the slot receiver.

That is exactly my feelings…… I’m not sold on Banks but feel he has done a decent job….. this is a defense that lost a lot of talent when Pruitt left….. struggled bringing in talent due to ncaa investigation…. They were still top 25 in ppg allowed in the SEC…. If Heup feels it could be better then I am ok with a change but I like having stability in the program.
