Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

Awesome story nick! And praise be to God he is unhurt. By the way have you seen the movie Unbreakable with Bruce Willis? Has your son ever even been sick before? Haha.

We were down in Epcot at Disney about 3 weeks ago. Turned around and didnt see my 4 year old anywhere. Fear city. He was only "lost" for maybe 10-20 seconds or so, but my goodness, what your mind can do to you in that short amount of time!

The same thing happened with my daughter at a local fair. When she disembarked from the ride she was on, she went through the gate on the other side of the line where people were waiting to get on the ride. I got through the crowd of people and she wasn't anywhere to be found. Thankfully we found her after about a minute. Worst feeling of my life, bar none.

Why in the hell are people even discussing numbers this early for the '15 class? Stupid. There will be obvious attrition on the current roster. Stop whining over numbers this early. Good grief.

Hey fellas, hopefully this will start your day off right. Today, I almost experienced the greatest tragedy of my life.

The family was getting ready to go out, (wife, 3 kids, myself) so I sent the kids out to the truck first, while we got the last stuff locked up, turned off, etc. A minute or two later, I hear the crash of metal. Immediately, I knew it was a vehicle hitting something. Running to the door, I see my truck had rolled about 15 feet down my sloping driveway into our large steel gate, which probably weighs over 1,000 pounds. The gate was visibly pretty dramatically bent from the momentum of the truck crashing into it.

Quickly scanning the yard, I see the three year old at the top of the hill, remember my oldest is inside, and right about the time I think, "Where is John-Michael" (aged 5), I hear him scream from behind the truck. Ladies and gentlemen...that moment, untold fear gripped my heart. What was I going to find behind that truck? My boy under a my back tire, broken legs, a crushed chest... my God!

I jumped off the porch, still wearing my socks with no shoes, and ran around the truck to see him pinned between the bumper and the crushed gate. I threw myself between the gate and truck and pressed with all I had. Stinking socks were giving me no traction, but I pushed that SOB and moved it a few inches back up the hill while forcing the gate off of my son. My wife had run out by that time and pulled him free as I held the truck back.

We really don't know what happened. The parking brake (stick shift) was still engaged. My son (who has had a steady diet of Iron Man, Captain American, Spider-man & Jesus) said he saw the truck rolling and jumped behind it to stop it.

I tell this story to give credit to God. I'm telling you, that child had not a single scratch. Not even a bruise. The gate, which was hit so hard it bent the steel angle iron, bars and broke welding will need to be repaired. How on earth he was pinned between the two and walked away... I give credit to God alone.

Needless to say, I was, and am emotionally exhausted from the experience. I'm going to get that truck's parking brake looked at and park it in 1st gear from now on.

Now, back to football.

Thanks for sharing nick. All honor, praise and glory to the Lord!

I feel that the "numbers" discussion now makes a lot of sense. Especially if your of the opinion that CBJ will not force kids out of the program to make room to take a full class. The reason the numbers talk makes sense is because there are kids who WOULD be takes if there were 30 spots like in 2014. With the class likely less than 20, some of those same kids would NOT be takes in this class. JMO

My biggest fear for my sons are their lack of understanding of mortality. Of course, the alternative is a total understanding which no 8 year olds shouldn't have. I praise God every day that we live in an area where this reality is not in their face daily. I pray for the unfortunate children that have to experience this every day.

I was pretty well versed in mortality by the time I was 10 and an expert I guess one would say before I was even 16.

Out of all the substances and energies found in the entirety of the universe; life is surely the rarest.

I don't see how you can say its "likely" the class will be less than 20. I believe its far more likely the number is closer to 25 than 15. How about this bet for some fake e-cred? If the class is between 21-25, I win. If its between 15-19, you win. 20 is a tie.

This class will have more than 20. Guaranteed.

*que ridiculous drivel about irrelevant BS this early in the process*

If you have confirmed with 9-13 current Vols that they will be leaving the program, by all means please provide the names. I am very curious who they are. Thanks

NSD for the 2014 class was JUST a couple weeks ago. The fact you're worrying about numbers already is about as relevant as worrying about the number of DL committed this time last year.

Oh, wait. You did that too. How did that work out?

Why exactly are you worried about how much I worry? Not sure that really is something you should concern yourself with. I can assure you that I am just fine.

I would still like that list of 9-13 names which allows you to guarantee a 20+ number type class. :hi:

I believe I asked you a question as well.

I don't pretend to know the names of who will leave. It will happen, though.

It concerns everyone on this board because they have to read your BS.

I was very pleased with the final class for 2014. Would have liked to seen a couple things play out differently, but all in all I'll take it.

Of course that has nothing to do with the numbers for the 2015 class except for the (2) ships we have to take away for Dews and Robertson.

Still ridiculous man, just stop. We aren't worried about you. It's just annoying as hell!

Could he give you a list of the DL that were gonna sign last year at this time? No, doesn't make what people were trying to tell you any less true. Plus this is an even better guarantee. It's just common sense man, happens every year.

There will be some leave this Spring, always are. Will be a couple leave by the time Fall starts. Then some will be gone at the end of the season.

Some that will never get PT here will be looking at other options, some will even be nudged to do so.

It just shows you pick something every year to annoy everyone with, and you ultimately look ridiculous.
