Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

Per scout, info from the Tennessee Exposure Camp at TSU:

- Tiny, James, and Justin Hunter showed up to assist with the camp, as did Kendal Wright

- Jack Jones tore a few ligaments in his wrist power cleaning. He wore a cast and didn't participate in one on one drills, but did everything else. Should be 100% for the season

- Ugo Amadi had a great day and his athleticism, fluid hips, and ball skills really make up for his height.

- Van Jefferson was unguardable

- Cameron Ordway struggled somewhat, but has the length, athleticism, and ball skills to be dynamic at CB. Needs some work on mechanics

- Kyle Phillips did well. Andrew Wood as well

- Gabe Angel looks to be a future TE or OLB. Could thrive in an h-back role

- Jacoby Stevens is very athletic for his age

Maybe I'm in the minority but I read the first book of Wheel of Time and didn't really care for it much. Got bored with it.

And I love the genre. Haven't gotten up the courage to spend the time it would take to read the second one in the series and try to get into it again.

Certainly to each their own, but what I found impressive was that I do NOT like the genre very much most of the time. I loved his attention to every minute detail, being that Jordan was a Historian by nature. His development of characters is second to none in my book. There are hundreds of characters, and you actually feel like you KNOW them. I would encourage you to pick it up from the beginning again and keep going strong. It's a wonderfully complex web of a story.:good!:

I don't know if we can get away with this subject but I'm curious how people here feel about our coaches top to bottom. We talked a lot about our talent and the position groups but it may be taboo to talk about our coaches. I'm a trader so I'm suggesting the use of broker recommendations for expressing one's opinion/present assessment of our coaches at this point. The recommendations are Strong Buy, Buy, Hold, Sell, Strong Sell. I'm looking at their resume, their first year performance with us, and the immediate challenge before them.

Jones = Strong Buy
Bajakian - Hold
Gillespie - Strong Buy
Mahoney - Hold
Azzanni - Buy
Elder - Hold
Jancek - Hold
Striping - Buy
Thigpen - Strong Buy
Martinez - Strong Buy
Lawson - Strong Buy

I would place Elder in the buy category personally. Good list though

Interesting convo...only 2 I would change is Elder and Stripling.

Stripling - strong buy (resume speaks for itself)
Elder - buy (had nothing to work with at TE position, and special teams, minus Auburn game, were vastly improved)

I mostly agree with this, but it is just too hard to say with the low talent level and depth we had last year. We should know better after this season, but the real test will be the 15 season. I might raise Stripling to a strong buy based on his history.

Due to being tremendously underrated aka under priced. I'd be buying the hell out of all of them.

The whole AAU thing is crazy to me too. So much dirty stuff goes on under the table with all that. Closest thing football has is 7v7, but it isn't anywhere near as bad.

NCAA Basketball is without a doubt the dirtiest sport when it comes to recruiting and yes it starts young - too young. Football doesn't really hold a candle to the things AAU has brought to the table in terms of pay for play and corruption.

Bball forum is about to get even more unbearable. Basilio is reporting Hubbs is expected to seek his release later this week. That's the only one that really hurts, imo. And while I normally take Basilio with a grain of salt he has been fairly accurate calling basketball news. This news doth suck.

I have bball forum tabs open on my ipad I haven't gotten to yet, just gonna close those out real quick. Thanks for the heads up!

I hope basilio is wrong... That'll be a really, really tough loss to swallow
