SIAP...

From ESPN Insider. A list of the 50 players most likely to breakout this year. The list includes one UT player, Marquez North. For space reasons, his assessment is the only one I included. Also, North was one of only two players on last year's list. Dontre Wilson is the other.

I see a LOT of kids we missed on or (worse) didn't recruit -- Voytik comes to mind.

I sure hope the postseason list includes players like Malone, Hurd, and Worley/Dobbs. And a couple of defenders would be nice, too. :)

Enjoy...

Top 50 breakout players for 2014

1. Jake Coker, QB, Alabama Crimson Tide

2. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU Tigers

3. Jalen Ramsey, DB, Florida State Seminoles

4. Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson Tigers

5. D.J. Foster, RB/WR, Arizona State Sun Devils

6. Dontre Wilson, RB/WR, Ohio State Buckeyes

7. Davis Webb, QB, Texas Tech Red Raiders

8. Speedy Noil, WR, Texas A&M Aggies

9. Tyreek Hill, RB/WR, Oklahoma State Cowboys

10. Robert Nkemdiche, DT, Ole Miss Rebels

11. Eric Kendricks, LB, UCLA Bruins

12. Shock Linwood, RB, Baylor Bears

13. Leonard Floyd, LB, Georgia Bulldogs

14. Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama

15. Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama

16. Trey DePriest, LB, Alabama

17. KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

18. D'haquille Williams, WR, Auburn Tigers

19. Rashard Robinson, CB, LSU

20. Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU

21. Marquez North, WR, Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee fans are so starved for anything good that they're lapping up every bit of Butch Jones' positivity and success on the recruiting trail (top-five class this past February). North, however, is on-field evidence of progress -- something Volunteers can only pray is contagious.

"He looks great," Jones said of the 6-4 sophomore, who has added about 12 to 15 pounds since last season. "We can't keep him away from the weight room."
North's acrobatic catch against South Carolina in UT's only big win in 2013 is the current highlight symbolic of hope. Will there be more from last year's leading receiver (496 yards), or anyone else, in 2014?

North might have been higher on the list if not for a great deal of uncertainty at QB and along the offensive line. Even as the young, heralded recruits get settled -- freshman RB Jalen Hurd is another to watch -- the time is not yet here for the Vols.

22. Greg Bryant, RB, Notre Dame

23. Jabrill Peppers, DB, Michigan Wolverines

24. Will Gardner, QB, Louisville Cardinals

25. Chad Voytik, QB, Pittsburgh Panthers

26. Travis Rudolph and Ermon Lane, WRs, Florida State

27. Shane Ray and Markus Golden, DEs, Missouri Tigers

28. Devon Allen, WR, Oregon Ducks

29. Victor Bolden, WR, Oregon State Beavers

30. Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State

31. Jacoby Brissett, QB, North Carolina State Wolfpack

32. Kelvin Taylor, RB, Florida Gators

33. Shon Coleman, OT, Auburn

34. Vince Biegel, LB, Wisconsin Badgers

35. Skai Moore, LB, South Carolina Gamecocks

36. Josh Shaw, CB, USC Trojans

37. Andrew Brown, DT, Virginia Cavaliers

38. Keith Ford, RB, Oklahoma Sooners

39. Corey Clement, RB, Wisconsin

40. Ed Davis, LB, Michigan State Spartans

41. Eldridge Massington, WR, UCLA

42. Cayleb Jones, WR, Arizona Wildcats

43. Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn

44. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

45. Corey Marshall, DT, Virginia Tech Hokies

46. Barry J. Sanders, RB, Stanford Cardinal

47. Rika Levi, NG, Texas Tech

48. Adoree' Jackson, CB/WR, USC

49. Ifeadi Odenigbo, DE, Northwestern Wildcats

50. Josh Bordner, WR, Boston College Eagles

I hope Kiffin fails miserably, now that he's at Bama. I was as mad as anyone when he left but, once he was at USC, he was out of sight, out of mind. Now that he's back in the SEC, and at our biggest rival, I want him to fall flat on his face.

I do wonder just how much control Kiffin had on the offense, in conjunction to Sark and Carroll, during his time as OC at USC. Whatever the case, outside of UGA last season, I think '09 versus UGA & Bama were the best-called, X's and O's, games we've seen in the last five years.

It was frustrating to watch and heartbreaking to see the outcome, but Kiffin rope-a-doped Saban all day long and just knocked Richt right out of the stadium.

I'll give you '09 UGA. It was probably the best offensive game of the year. But 10 points against Bama in '09 doesn't strike me as a great offensive game--even factoring in any keep away mentality.

You guys see the Rivals article today on roster turnover? Since the spring of 2013 Tennessee has flipped 66 roster spots. That's what, 18 months? That really puts things in perspective, imo.

This is a whole new team, and hopefully the results on the field will reflect that.

I wanna see Paulk fully recovered. He's got similar build to Lache Seastrunk. Can't wait to see him trusting his knee again.

So what happens to VN when Nate Peterman is named the starter? ...

Hmmmm

Peterman looks as good as anyone out there unfortunately, I'm worried about the QB play
