Yes, torn bicep. Legendary move. Almost won that game too. I wanted it so badly for him.

One of the most amazing things I've seen on a football field. I don't know how it would be possible to play on the DL against FL with a torn bicep.

Gilliam probably won't ever play football again if he doesn't play now, so it would be kind of mean to make him sit the last 5 or so games of his football career if he's anywhere close to being able to play.

Exactly. To go from walk on to finally earning scholarship in his final year and then getting to actually earn a starting role in that final year is remarkable. He is not going to be a Sunday player so this is it for him. Think of the years of grueling work for him and how often that never pays off with any playing time. If he has a partial tear what is the downside? He might tear it more and require surgery. I doubt there is anyone here that would not want to take that chance if they were in his shoes. I know I would in a quick minute.

I'm starting to think that if Bama's offense continues to be prolific, ol' Lane may actually get another crack at a head coaching position.

I just wonder if he would be willing to go the Bobby Petrino/Gus Malzahn/Hugh Freeze route and coach at a Sun Belt school for a year or two, because those might be the only offers he gets for a while.

Yeah, according to the article most of the sanctions come from the women's basketball program under the old coaching staff. The rest are for the football team.

While amazing, and probably very painful, the bicep is probably the least important muscle in the body for a DL.

Dude is a good coach, he just has low character and is not good at managing a program. You keep him as a coordinator or position coach, and he can do some work.

Arms are pretty useful when you're trying to shed blocks.

Yes, but it's generally a pushing motion, which activates the triceps. Making a tackle would use some bicep.

If I recall, he had 3 tackles in that game.

Once again, not negating the toughness it took to play that game.

Justin Harrell, Tennessee, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

Florida … Heavily taped because of his torn biceps, Harrell shocked Volunteer fans when he stepped on to the field to start the game. He went on to make three tackles that stopped the Gators for no gain on all three running plays he was involved in … Harrell tackled DeShawn Wynn at the line of scrimmage on a second-&-1 run from the UF 46 five minutes into the game … At the start of the second quarter, he pressured QB Chris Leak, who rolled out of the pocket to go down for a 1-yard loss and three plays later, Harrell teamed with defensive end Xavier Mitchell to take down Wynn for no gain on a first-&-10 run at the UT 22 … Head to Head Competition-OG#67-Drew Miller.

Im thinking Michigan. But they are in dumpster fire mode so that might not work

This Florida team sounds fragile and insecure. The jabberjaw nonsense feels like they're trying to pump themselves up, rather than trying to knock us off of our game or anything.

You can break a team that feels like that. Hit them in the mouth a few times right at the opening bell. I don't think they have enough heart and willpower to get back up off the mat, especially in front of 102,455 hostile Vol fans who would like nothing more than to watch them shatter.

Gonna be there to hopefully see it. Second game ever. Stoked is an understatement.

Go Vols!

This description sounds very similar to the 2012 UT team.

A physical attack does that, and we seem to be moving in that direction with every game Hurd plays...that being said, Blake Sims isn't as good as Worley but he looked like a Heisman candidate against these vaunted Florida DBs...we don't have anyone (yet) playing at Amari Cooper's level, but we have more than Bama a rung below....soooo? :wink2:

Sorry for a random post, but what do you think of the saying Go Vols Deep! My friend and I came up with it recently. Now it is our cheer when watching the Vols. Don't think I have seen it on it here before.

Don't want to take credit for it though if someone else said it before.
Thought it was funny but also a pretty awesome Vols chant.

Again, sorry for the randomness. Back to football.......

On the radio in Atlanta earlier, 680 were doing a weekly betting segment where a Vegas guy gives his one college and one NFL pick of the week. So far they have gotten every pick right this year. His college lock was Tennessee to cover the 2 1/2 vs Florida.

No apology needed...most of us on here are in the same boat...if Gilliam can actually help and they brace it up I guess we'll see how it shakes out...one football issue with this...doesn't a LT need a lot of mobility to function effectively? Someone used the example of Mankins, but he plays guard...position switch if he's a go?

Absolutely. He moves to RT most likely I would think. That way no issues pulling at guard as well.

The crowd is going to play a huge role in this as long as they don't get taken out of the game early.

If Florida's offense can't hear each other, I'm expecting a ton of false start penalties and maybe even a botched snap or two.

Vols Deep was the name of my fantasy football team about 5 years ago, which happens to be the last time I played fantasy sports (minus my big $ NFL survivor league).
