The master plan is stadium renovations. If we build it, apparently everybody will come. #RenovateNeyland

Nope. Build a winner, and you won’t have enough room to put everyone. When was the record for attendance? Pretty sure it was the Florida game the year we won the NC.

It’s an incredibly difficult thing to do. Almost intentional to pull it off successfully, but they are actually on the verge of killing off the loyal passion of this fan base that has existed for decades.

Yep. Never ever thought I would reach the point of possibly not following TN football.

Nothing's really changed on the coaching search. We'll still approach the big names, but we were never going to be able to poach sitting coaches who'd rather be elsewhere. It's never been about money for most of those top-tier names. If Mullen is willing to make a move, we'll probably make him a solid offer; if not, we'll move on to the next guy on the list. No need to be depressed yet.

We approach big names, but can’t land them, because we have idiots on the Hill scared to give up a little power to be great again.

The War Room said Brooks is the RT this weekend and he hasn’t played a game since he was a sophomore TE in HS. Lol

Should be fun! Lol. If we had a smart OC, we would roll JG out frequently so he had the option to run, but we won’t do that. We will sit him in the pocket so that we can give up 10 sacks to that vaunted Southern Miss defense.

Atp what hasn't he been rumored to have done.

Funded the entire school, hired Gruden and a cadre of NFL assistants, funded a pr troll fest, and headlocked Haslam over a steak dinner.

Yeah, but was he giving him the business while he had him in said headlock?

Currie is very focused on the stadium renovations. He doesn't like being asked about CBJ or the coaching search. Donors are testy, and he likes that even less.

And he has softened his stance on winning championships. He was asked about it, and he said something about having to look at a season a game at a time and not focus on winning championships until the end of the season. He kept circling back to stadium renovations, saying that UT wants to give fans a better experience. Somebody said "Winning championships would do that." His response was to shift the topic back to stadium renovations, saying that UT wants to expedite renovations to make it a better venue for fans. He was asked about #EmptyNeyland, and he talked about stadium renovations making Neyland a place fans would want to come.

The man is obsessed with stadium renovations and milking donors for more money to renovate more quickly than originally planned.

If we ended up with an AD who is more concerned about upgrading facilities than having a winning football program, then he and Davenport should be expeditiously and forthwith remanded to custody.

Can I ask how confident you are in this appraisal of his priorities? Is it based on what you are hearing or what you have observed or both?

Last minute admin or boosters screwed up the hire.
Sorry guys my info was good just like 2012.
See you rubes ..I mean Grudenites in a few years.

According to Doug Matthews & John Adams, the Haslams torpedoed Charlie Anderson & allies in the hiring of Currie. Reportedly Fulmer was Anderson's choice. In any event there are reports of boosters calling shots with regards to UT athletics.

One of the tidbits to come out of the board meeting yesterday was Currie's attributing the increased scope of the Phase 1 Neyland renovation project to a "new generation of donors". The increased scope was pulled from future phases and valued at around $74m.

If we have a new generation of donors that can compete with the Haslams we may have a shot this time. The only snag could be where does the loyaties of the Chancelor and Athletic Director lie? Do they work for Tennessee or to they work for the Haslams. Adams seemed to suggest this past spring that the Chancelor might work for the Haslams and may have an issue with personal integrity.

Some billionaires are billionaires because they are borderline crooks and cheapskates. Not all are like that but some are without a doubt. Another characteristic I would think some of them share is narcissism. With narcissists, it's pretty much my way or the highway.

From what I know of the Haslams, they developed a prototype gas station, replicated that prototype at hundreds of locations around the country, made billions, and now believe they are geniuses. So basically we have the guy who purchased a filling station in Gate City, Virginia, for $6,000 in the late 50's runniing our athletic program.

When he first came home from the Korean war he was offered the job as football coach at South Pittsburgh high school so you know he believes he's qualified.

Curries got bigger things to worry about...Like making FIFA happy once a decade..

LOL, maybe Kongbo was prophetic when he posted up that picture of hanging up his cleats last year after he supposedly got upset about not doing well on the FIFA game on PlayStation.

I have a bad feeling I know why Baldy hasn’t posted since UGA weekend. I think he knew then after the booster meeting to get rid of Butch, that the next hire would run through Big Jim and would be another no name coach. I think that’s why he was so mad and had his wife post here about it. Starting to think he’s already taken his money and loyalty to the program and checked out. Hope I’m wrong.

We are screwed and until Haslam and other failed leaders are gone, it will continue. If only we could have hired Noland and Blackburn- what would things look like today? No, Haslam had to back door his chosen guy who would do and say whatever he is told by his damn puppet master. But hey we have a kick ass stadium!

At this point, I can't find anything in this post to argue with you about. I hope that he surprises us all, but it is looking less and less like it.

I didn't say that Currie said the goal was no longer winning championships; I just said that it seemed like he had softened his stance. He took an aggressive stance back in the summer, saying that UT football wasn't winning enough and we expect to always win championships at UT. Today, he said that we need to look at it a game at a time and think about championships at the end of the season. He also talked about winning championships in the future like we have in the past. His take felt different to me, so I posted it.

No need to spin it to be something darker or more dire than what it was.

Sounds to me like he was trying to avoid giving a quote that would end up in the paper. Smart thing to do considering he’s about to fire the coach.

It’s not as if he said “Butch Jones is going to lead us to a championship in that stadium one year.”

VOLS fans are infinitely loyal, and when we are winning, it's SRO.

Frustrating. I have never felt as underwhelmed about Tennessee football as I have this year.

Yeah, I got hung up on two words he used this week that I thought could be telling. He said something to the effect of what he was focused on was supporting our coaches and players for the homecoming game right now.
