On the flip side, when something gets toxic, people start to pile on. Little things get blown up because people want him gone. Will never understand a player refusing to go back into a game regardless of what is going on off the field. You have other brothers who rely on you. Hurd was a primadonna and Butch couldn't handle him. I give Butch credit for not airing it in public like Saban did with one of his.

Lot of truth in here

This is what happens when you leave a coach over there when it's so toxic. The true idiots start showing up.

For those that pray and count themselves my friends on VN..Please pray for my family, my stepfather, one of the greatest men I've ever known, and my hero..passed away from pancreatic cancer a few minutes ago. I will not be around for awhile....Thanks.

Sorry to hear that.

Yeah I wonder how Gruden would do. Could he be patient with young players?

The college game is different for sure. I think he would kill it on gamedays and getting his team focused and energized. We wouldn't back down from anybody. He would be elite at preparing unique gameplans depending on the opponent. He would give us a chance in every game. The questionable side of Gruden the college coach would be the day to day grind and teaching that has to take place with these young players over time. He has wonderful schemes and plays and deep knowledge of the game. Can he communicate all those ideas to college kids and get them mentally prepared to execute all of that? Not just once, but over and over again every year to a new class of freshmen? Can he simplify? NFL players are adults and understanding high level football concepts and language is their job. They hold themselves accountable. College players typically do not. Players right out of high school oftentimes have to be spoon-fed information in a way that helps them excel. This is a specific skill and a big part of the job that never goes away. Does he have it?

I don't know the answer to that. His fascination with the NFL and all that being an NFL coach entails makes me think that if he came back it would be at that level. But who knows.

He would likely attract a fantastic staff, and probably steal great coaches from great programs all over the country and bring them here. They would hopefully be able to fill in some of his gaps.

He's had a ton of time to think through and prepare himself for an opportunity like this. So if he takes the job, you would have to assume he has a plan for how to work around some of his weaknesses. His strengths might bring us a Natty. And that makes him well worth the risk if we can get him to Tennessee.

Bring him on.

Hopefully this weekend is it no matter what. I don't want us to lose anymore games. I want to go to a bowl. I'm rooting hard for JG and the boys today. But dang it Currie, the time has long past. Do something already. Get him outta here.

I think he was scouts version of JAV

Babyvol was why I was so sure it was happening last time. He was money on scout for years and his source last time was Vic whoever I believe. The Gruden threads were fun but I didn't put stock in those posters like I did BV. Always seemed like a great guy on Volchat.

Where is he?

So I hate to be that guy but I haven't had time to keep up much for the last 24 hours or so. Can someone give a recap on why we are so optimistic today? The "insiders" I've scanned seem to all say things like "low chance" and "ball is in his court." I know he bought a house and is going to the game, but has there been any more news?

Thanks.

Not to mention his alleged concussion came as a direct result of him loafing into end zone, costing his team a touchdown and nearly the game.

What difference does that make? If he actually did have a concussion, who cares how he got it? It is extremely dangerous to put a player back out there who has a concussion. How he got it is completely irrelevant.

There's rumors and "information" going both ways. If the information is "low chance" then they don't believe the person knows what they're talking about.
If the information is "almost done", then the guy is most likely legit even if they've never heard of him.

Not insulting them, I like most the posters in that thread and don't blame them for having Hope. Just what I've gathered as a non participant.

If we are fortunate enough to get Gruden, I think those are valid concerns. If he hires some high quality college coordinators though, it would take care of those concerns. If it's true that he has reached out to Kendall Briles and the NC State guy about being OC, that could indicate that he is conscious of that as well.

I said alleged. You’re assuming he did. He also caught a touchdown afterwards and was running hard.

Dreaming a bit.

The opportunity to do something unique and special with Gruden at UT is fascinating. If the boosters, admin and Jon all see the same vision and Jon wants to go back to work full time at his career love, it could happen. It appears the whole thing is and has been in his court. Understandable if he doesn't in his 50's and set for life. However, if he does he could assemble an elite staff to recruit an elite roster to use elite facilities before an elite fan base with elite money behind it all to enhance an elite tradition on the hill.

Did I say "elite"?

Why yes, yes you did. You can’t spell elite without the T.

He signed up on VQ last night. A few posters vouched for him that it was the real BV.

He was all in on Gruden on Scout last time. He missed on a couple of big predictions around that time, but I think he was extremely reliable before that. I would consider him very reliable still.

This is what I'm talking about. We don't like what they have to say, so they must be fake news, clowns, and whatever else that was said about Haney, Hurd, and anyone else who had anything negative to say about Butch and the program for the past 4 years. Same thing happened to Sallee at the beginning of this season. He was right tho, wasn't he?

Fact is, Kress was right. Butch is a terrible coach who is ruining the program. I didn't like it either, but now I see that he was right and we were wrong.

When you're looking at Kress to help you support your agenda, you really might want to consider taking a break for awhile.

There is so much wrong with this posts that it’s difficult to know where to start.

I’m fairly certain someone who deals with 20-30 year old millionaires who were recently removed from college will be fine.

Listing guys like Fuentes, Richt, and Mullen is insulting. Each of their schools would can their guy to hire JG.

The amount of time spent discussing the “difficulties of college coaching” is ridiculous. If you can coach in the NFL you can coach in college. This man was traded to Tampa for one reason... to win a Super Bowl. He did it. He can handle the vaunted pressure of a Saturday in Athens.

And all of the proven college coaches who can win big that you listed.. haven’t ever even made a college football playoff.

It's not like I wouldn't know from first hand experience. 😂

And it's not 2007-08 anymore. Times change and the game changes. Kids change and their interest change.

But you obviously know more about the NFL lifestyle, contracts, and coaching abilities of certain coaches, than I do. 🤔

I don't have an agenda and I won't be taking a break. Get over yourself.

My only point is that we shouldn't rush to defend the coach blindly next time, no matter who it is. A lot is coming out, there will be a lot more. Has nothing to do with Kress.
