Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLI

Not negativity, facts. And if it sounded like a shot across your bow (it did), for that I apologize. I am beyond fed up with the Butch apologists (which you are clearly not), and those who are dancing with butterflies under the "Rainbow of What-If?" (which again, you are clearly not).

UT Football...this team...Team 121...in Year 5 of Coach Jones' at the helm, has surrendered record yards, record points, and stands on the brink of record losses, ever...say that word "ever" again...by a UT Football team. In 121 years of Tennessee football, this may stand as one of the worst. Ever.

I have heard every imaginable excuse that CBJ's imagination or delusion could offer up. I have heard explanations, excuses, and head-scratching monologues by a man who is clearly in way over his head, and not half the coach that he thinks he is. And I have watched a proud UT Football program, team, and fan base slowly come apart at the seams. I'm sick of it.

He can't be gone fast enough. I look forward to the day when the stink he has enveloped this program in is finally washed away by a coach who gets it, and knows how to win games. If I want to hear a wandering, pointless speech by an empty head, I'll turn on C-Span.

Sorry...time for my meds.

Go Vols.

Butch apologists?

Did we make any plays? Like actual highlights plays? Plays that matter?

JK's 20 yard TD run was nice. Callaway's catch that you have mentioned. I cannot recall much else. The strip by DT was nice and Warrior and Gaulden both had some big hits. I thought Jumper played well also.

You guys can drop the obsession with negativity narrative. We all get it. We all know we stink and everything else that could be said has been said 200 times

I’m just bringing up a simple fact on the subtle swings a game can take

Good point on Florida though

sorry, I'm usually more upbeat about the team.

I get concerned about their health when all they do is complain and twist things to the negatively naturally.

It’s like you can’t make a simple statement without a paragraph disclaimer about how bad things are.

Poster A: “Hey guys, it was sunny today!”

Poster B: “Yeah? Well when is Butch gonna shove it where the sun don’t shine?”

Poster A: “Oh... that wasn’t really about Butch. I was just talking about the weather.”

Poster B: “There l’s not going to be any weather to talk about if Curry doesn’t get off his Dockers and fire Butch.”

Negativity can be facts. It is which facts you choose to select and how you present them.

Example: "on the brink of record losses".

Is that so? Colloquially, "on the brink" is used when something is imminent or a near lock to occur.

Not only are there 3 more weeks (defeats time definition), but odds of winning one of the next 3 cant reasonably be said to be near 0. If I had to guess, mizzou and vandy spreads are close to pushes.

You choose to focus on negativity and spread it. Ergo, you are negative.

These are the ones that stand out to me as well. Add in EB's return to midfield on the opening kick and that's about it.

We are getting to the point again where we are not going to be able to have much of a spring game due to injuries. Just like the past 3 years.

It is completely ridiculous that this continues to happen. Something is VERY VERY wrong either in practice, weight training, or rehabilitation.

**** this. I'm more mad tonight after a win than last weeks loss

I would like to request a moratorium on talking about injuries. Let's quit jinxing ourselves.

This can make for a fun Sunday.

Poster A - Great news, my cancer is benign.

Poster B - Well, unfortunately malignant is running rampant in Tennessee’s locker room.

Yeah, they're out there, and in here. I don't like "naming names". I don't come here looking for an e-fight, or confrontation. I've done it in the past, but I like to think that I'm a bit (a lot) older, and maybe a bit wiser, than back then.

In the beginning, and even extending into this season, I thought...then hoped against mounting evidence...that Coach Jones was the right guy. I was wrong. He's not.

I was raised a Vol fan. I'm 55. When I was 10 years old, I beat Alabama about a hundred times in my backyard. I was unstoppable. I threw, caught, and ran for countless touchdowns against every other SEC team. I won the Heisman trophy four times, in 1973.

To this day, I still get "chicken skin" when the band breaks into the "T", busts into Rocky Top, and the team comes pouring out on to the field.

In short, I'm just like a lot of us here. Sometimes, I have to remind myself that I'm not special, I'm just another rabid Vol fan. I come here to be among my kind.

Go Vols.

Hyperbole

The weight room has been a joke for three years. It’s really lathargic. A lot of going through the motions. I’ve said for the last 3 years... we don’t even look like alabama physically.

Why would the players do this? Do they not understand what it takes to get to the NFL? How did this culture of being lazy in the weightroom get started? It makes zero sense. I am not doubting what you are saying, I just don't get why they would not bust their tails in the weight room.

No idea. maybe it's because they didn't have to go hard in HS to succeed and old habits die hard. I don't know.

Poster believes we should physically match Bama...lol. Does not remember they have 40 Trey Smiths on their team. Their players came bigger faster stronger out of the box. Common sense.

Facts generally speak for themselves. Let's avoid the semantics regarding how one chooses to "interpret" facts, and stick to the numbers themselves.

Looking at the data (statistics) to this point of the season, and then looking forward to our next 3 opponents, it is neither delusional nor defeatist to conclude that going 1-2 down the stretch would require this team to play better than it has to this point. Thus, 0-3 is not beyond the realm of possibility, or even probability. Ergo, on the brink.

I choose to focus on facts, and draw reasonable conclusions based on said facts.

Ergo, I am a realist. I'll hang up and watch Team 121 create that reality.

Go Vols.

It's not. people were complaining about burning Mcbrides red shirt and then complaining that JG was too hurt to play so he shouldn't have been out there in the same breath.

The legion of miserables will always find something to complain about. 25 years later, same slice of fanbase still has no life. Projecting own shortcomings onto sport and others.

I believe this is a symptom of economically distressed areas. East TN, Gainesville, Bama. Makes sense. They forget it is entertainment and begin to believe they are a part of it and it will affect their day to day life. Delusional some would say. Win a natty, but they will still wake up sad about whatever it is making them miserable to begin with. Football is not Frasier Crane.

I don't think "on the brink" was unfair. I also think that Mizzou will be favored by 10 or so. FYI, I am an orange-glasses wearing, sunshine pumper.

Georgia actually looked beatable yesterday. I don't know if they are going to get by Auburn.

Saban always beats the teams he should beat. That trumps Urban who can lose some clunkers. (in the debate of who is the best)

Frost beat Morris by a little--but I think UCF would be easier to recruit than SMU. If Florida gets him, I will hold on to that.

Go Mark Richt.

I am not even comparing us to Bama. He is commenting on the lax attitude our players have in the weight room. That was what my question was regarding.

Frost would crush it at UF.

I do think Auburn beats UGA.
