You said they were talking about the BOT meeting. I'm simply pointing out they're not. I don't know whether he's coming here or not but there is evidence to say they're going after him with a vengeance. I'm not talking about the people you claim are trolls. I'm talking about LWSVOL, Hubbs, SBV, AtlantaVOL, among others that are confirmed not trolls. I'll remain skeptical until he walks to the podium but there's a real chance, a decent chance that he coaches the Vols next year.

This. SBV has been in that thread and said it is clear they are going hard after Gruden.

Our thoughts aren't that far apart but I draw the line at blaming anything on our AD. Gruden has been rumored for job after job. Surely all those ADs couldn't get out of their way. It's on JG

I don't think the AD really has much to do with it. Much bigger players involved. Currie does what he's told IMO.

Hey, I am glad to get any info I can on this. I would jump for joy to see Gruden on our sidelines.

People laughed at Bammers when they thought they were getting Saban. Then they got him and laughed because they paid too much. Who's laughing now?

Not looking down my nose on anyone. There are good coaches out there, and it seems this time the VOLS are willing to pay.

I agree Gruden is a huge improbability but you guys claiming that he is not coming as fact are just as bad as the trolls claiming that he is coming.

Unless claiming zero chance and not claiming to have talked to anyone with inside knowledge is causing a massive internet stir, no, the two are not the same.

I am in the camp that Gruden listened last time. I think he did it because he likes attention and the same now. I think the legit guys were trolled into believing it went further as we even had posters saying a deal was in place. Maybe that makes some sense

You think Gruden listened because he likes the attention? Buddy, you don't even know him. How can you possibly conclude this? What a ridiculous thing to say without even knowing someone.

This. It may not happen but it won't be because of Gruden not wanting it or the money not being there. It will be on the UT side this time.

And that’s the plan...put intense pressure and heat on the UT side that it will be very hard for them to say no.

This. SBV has been in that thread and said it is clear they are going hard after Gruden.

SBV said similar things in 2012. LWS said we've offered him and been turned down. I don't doubt they're trying. But Gruden has made it absolutely clear he has no desire to coach in college, here or anywhere.

With Hyams being as confident as he is, is it impossible to imagine that he asked Gruden for himself? People talk about insiders, but they don't get more insider than Larry and Hyams, and both have said it's not going to happen.

Year after year his name gets thrown out there for jobs.

Has he ever came out and said, "I love MNF and I am not interested in said job"?

I don't think Hyams is the end all for information. Hubbs has also said they were throwing everything at Gruden.

That's not the point. Of course they are throwing everything at Gruden. Of course they're trying! No one is debating this small part of the equation.

However, just because they are trying does not mean, as some of these trolls have said, that a "deal is done", "just waiting on ESPN to announce it", "just trying to figure out the best time to fire Butch", etc.

It is a false equivalency to assume that because they are trying to get Gruden that Gruden will be the next coach. I believe he has already turned it down, as LWS said, and these other "insiders" keeping it going are doing so to continue their 15 minutes of fame.

Why is it required for him to come out and say he's not interested for every single rumor? That's between him, ESPN and the program talking to him. You don't have a right to hear statements from him on every job/rumor.

Agreed. I actually think it's great business for him to keep having his name mentioned and drooled over by fan bases. Helps ratings and endorsements. He's has a legit reason to want this attention.

Haslam/AD better be the ones going after Gruden or it has zero shot. This idea that rogue boosters are gonna bring a deal to the table for Currie and Haslam to ok is not worth fantasizing about imo.

I don't think it's rogue boosters this time. I think Peyton and Fulmer are very involved and are spearheading this deal. But yes, they have to sell it to Haslam and others. No question about it, this is all going to come down to a sales pitch and getting buy in from Haslam and others.

It’s pretty obvious he likes the attention.

People don't seem to remember he let the same thing happen with Arkansas in 2012 as well. Just let his name float forever.

Texas in 2013 as well.

Every NFL job opening since he was fired in 2008.

Give it a couple weeks and his name will pop up for the Colts and Browns. Raiders maybe too.

Ziti made this point last week I believe, but for all the talk about "insiders," just remember how many of them have already been proven wrong about Butch's departure when considering credibility around something as outlandish as Jon Gruden coming here.

Even Hubbs said Butch was going to be fired after a loss to Kentucky but something obviously changed. Is Hubbs a troll or a fake insider too?

I agree with you on principle, but we have boosters not named Haslam that aren't "rogue boosters." In fact, we have boosters big enough to probably be tired of this University being only Haslam's show. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they were fed up with this "nothing gets done w/out Big Jim's say so" mentality.

Do you really think that AtlantaVOL is basing his opinion about Gruden on someone he barely knows?

I don't have a clue. I don't know him personally and neither does anyone else on here. Just pointing out that the premise had a logical flaw.

So you know that he had zero interest, talked to zero people about taking those jobs you mentioned and just sat back getting a hard on because "I'm so cool and popular, man. That's wild" all because he likes attention? Some of you can be so absurd with your statements.
