Grude morning all, I’m in the middle of absolute nowhere and wasn’t able to watch the game last night.

Would someone be so nice to give a quick summary? Saw JG hurt an ankle, defense play well for the most part? Thanks guys

Southern Miss had more yards than us. Our D set us up with 2 turnovers (Moseley actually had a pick) and we scored on the short field. No way we can sustain a drive of more than 50 yards. Southern Miss had over 100 yards in penalties and that honesty kept us in it.

Power is shifting back to the East.

Fat being trimmed, in Mac and Butch. Both should upgrade. If Frost, than Florida has killed it.

Kirby improved UGA.

Muschamp is not better than Spurrier ‘s best, but better than his last couple of years.

Mizzou, KY, Vandy par

Out West....

Freeze is gone and Ole Miss will go back to the dark ages

Sumlin is shakey

Gus is inconsistent

Orgeron is sketchy, but winning at the moment

Bert is shakey

Mullen plods along

I’d say things are about to even out

East stinks. Let's see who is hired first.

So sounds like a bend but don’t break defense last night? Give up some yards but either force a TO or get a stop when needed?

Offense still struggling it sounds like. McBride show anything at all?

Thanks, by the way.

Removing Bobo from my list of who I would be happy with. He had to finish strong and he isn't doing that.

I am adding Butch Davis to the list. Extremely impressive what he is doing at FIU and we all know he can coach.

Of the remaining games, rank them in order of best chance to win. Here's mine:

Vandy: least talented team of the three, at home.
LSU: Most talented team left but not dynamic offensively, home game.
Missouri: Away game, dynamic offense, playing very well.

George O Leary went 13-1 and won a BCS bowl 2 years before Frost got there.

Let’s not act like winning at UCF is some sort of massive feat. Also, season ain’t over yet.

Most of the players from that 12-2 team are gone.

It's a full rebuild. 9-4, 0-12, 6-7, and now 8-0. Lot of time between that Fiesta Bowl season and what's happening right now.

Hell no man. Get off this phase before it starts.

There are plenty of reasons why Davis would be a very questionable hire. His name isn't one of them.

What were the exact details of his NCAA issues?

I might have to take him off the list if my memory of that is wrong. I was thinking he was cleared but could be wrong

Said this half joking a few days ago and then heard this at the end of the broadcast last night. It’s frustrating that this is now the type of thing that this program aspires to and considers a success now. I get that the consistency of making/winning bowl games is a good accomplishment, but it’s disheartening when small goals like this become the standard we strive for and not SEC East/SEC/National Championships. Trying to become the first 4 year class in school history to win a bowl game each year. Talk about an empty achievement, not even a sniff of an East title. Smh

Not sure if the link is working but much like the rest of the season I don’t really care...

Was reflecting on this, this morning. Butch has been instrumental in bring the MAC & AAC mentality to the SEC.

I respect anyone saying he isn't worth a look. He has issues without a doubt. However we have a bunch of people that have said they want a real football coach, a guy that can X/O. He's that guy.

Haha, nah I was always big on Jancek. Took us from 28 ppg to 24 to 20 (2015). Top-20 3rd down D last 2 years. Statistical know-nothings bashed him for a small sample size of 4th down plays when his vast majority of playcalling led us to having a very solid D.

3rd down is now in the dumps. You have to wonder if Shoop was leeching off Jimmy Franks all along. Their D had no dropoff without him, but we have gotten worse.

Was a Lawson fan after he arrived. Couldn’t help but notice the physical transformation in pretty much every player. After Dooley, it was refreshing to look at our players not have their hands on their knees by the third quarter. But the lack of physical push by the linemen (which can be explained by the matador mindset of the blocking scheme but puzzling on the defensive side) and the narrative of unusual high numbers of injuries, doomed him. Always thought Jancek was solid...not great and definitely nothing worth pining over. JMO.

Not really, they are consistently good.

5 years before Frost got there they averaged 10 wins a year and won 3 conference titles.

That 0-12 season was an extreme outlier from where they progress normally is.

Exactly. The main point is Frost isn't taking UCF to a ceiling it isn't used to being at.

Has the last two weeks hurt the perception of Shiano any?

It doesn't for me but His Unit has gotten torched badly the past few weeks.

Very true. It’s pretty clear he would be happy with a 8-4 record and bowl appearance/win every year. Doesn’t give off the impression that he strives for more and is disappointed when it’s not achieved. I think it’s necessary to address the failures and he is so hell bent on pointing out any positives he ignores the bad at all costs. It can be healthy to recognize defeat and address it and work to make sure it doesn’t happen again IMO.

Oh I must've of missed when he went undefeated in his second year

Almost is a key word there. I'll preface this by saying i love Frost and I think he has the highest potential of any G5 coach, but that 0-12 team he had didnt go 0-12 because of lack of talent. They didn't have the same players as that Fiesta Bowl team, but there's still plenty of talent in the program. He's done a fantastic job of coaching up the players there and then filling in with new recruits and that bodes really well for wherever he goes.

SMU has been dead and buried for decades. June Jones was able to get Haiwaii to a BCS bowl and perennially win 10 games there and could barely make a bowl at SMU. Not to mention having to recruit against all the other Texas programs and almost all of them have been experiencing high points in their programs as well.

I'm not advocating for moving Morris up the list, but he'll be a successful head coach at a big program and I see little difference between him and Norvell.
