I’m tired of getting scolded by the radio via local media on fans being upset and making it known. This behavior is a direct result of the lack of response from our AD. If he would just fire the dude the circus would be over. It’s all on Currie imo and his lack of action. The dude has literally done nothing! Make a statement or fire him! Really easy fix imo....

No statement would be made if we weren’t firing him yet. Former NFL GM Floyd Reese was talking about it today and said the people clamoring for at least a statement on it would be dissapointed, because that was the wrong thing to do, and I agree. Once you put your statement out there you are held to it no matter how you phrase it. Keep everything close to the vest and lock down the info going out. It’s frustrating for us but best for the UTAD.

Exactly how I feel. Nothing he could possibly say that wouldn’t get him ripped to shreds by fans anyway.

It’s highly irritating!

Was Strickland the AD at MSU that ok’d a one game suspension for Jeffrey Simmons punching a girl?

Question if any of you have ever tried this:

Although it is used as a cliche, Tennessee football is something that gets in your blood. With that being said, I don't think you can just "turn it off"...even if you want to.

What I'm getting at is this: In giving our current situation some thought, and going through the possible outcomes, I've come up with two outcomes that are just infuriating: (1) they keep Butch, or (2), they, ahem, "screw" up the process of terminating Butch and end up making a very underwhelming hire.

When I consider these two possible outcomes, my feeling is this: Since this organization will have displayed a complete willingness/endorsement of being utterly average (at best) in football, my natural reaction would be to withhold my support in all forms (time, money, "give a damn", etc.).

As an example, I live near Chattanooga, and I believe Hennen's has one of the best filets around. If Hennen's decides to use a lower quality of meat and/or a less skilled chef, they would naturally lose my patronage.

Which goes back to my original inquiry. Have any of you ever actually tried this? Although I can support my logic, I really just don't think I'd be able to sever ties with my fandom and support of UT football. And, when you think about it, that is really what makes the despair of our situation so much more intense.

You have to wean yourself off of it. The 2015 Florida game was such an unbelievable gut punch after everything we'd endured as fans in the previous seven years that I decided I had to back out a little bit. I made a conscious effort not to read anything about college football, not to come here, not to go to any other boards. I stopped wearing Tennessee stuff regularly to avoid being reminded about it. I just stopped paying attention and devoted myself to other things.

I wasn't even mad when we lost to Arkansas. It was kinda nice.

Since then I haven't been nearly as invested during off-seasons as I used to be. I pay attention to football come August or so, enjoy the games (not enjoying many this year), and just generally try not to think much about it. People try to trash talk but I don't bother returning it and eventually they stop bringing it up.

I've given this a lot of thought the last few weeks. The difference as a product between a steak at Hennens and Tennessee Volunteers football is the emotional attachment. I used to love the Braves, but when that emotional attachment was severed by MLB and it's players by the money grubbing strike, that emotional attachment was severed. The thing is, I love the Tennessee Vols because I am a Tennessean no matter where I go. It has, or should I say will take a lot more to sever this attachment, I don't really know if it can be severed for me.

I love the Vols because my granddaddy and my Pappaw did, and my dad does. It is part of who I am, which is why it infuriates me when somebody suggest I am just pitching a fit because a lot of elitist nerds and beancounters from somewhere else are destroying something I love.

I am mad as hell and embarrassed.

I could have written the same post---I loved the Braves so much, but the strikes turned me off.

Our family has been supporting the VOLS when they wore leather helmets. I don't think anything could make me go against them, except maybe hiring Kiffin again. I remember our decade of dominance, and I miss it. After a decade of being terrible, I don't want to go through another five years of this.

Too bad on Gruden. I believe Hyams and Punch more than message board rumors. My grudometer is down from 20% to less than 1%. It’s clear we’ve gone after him but sounds like a super long shot.

Oh well. There are certainly other good options this cycle. Hope we don’t blow it!

I checked out around Oklahoma in 2015. Was my last game in Neyland. I knew Butch was never going to be successful here at that point.

During the early run in 2016 I thought I was dead wrong about him but then he reverted to form.

I've been posting here a lot recently because I like the coaching rumors. I used to really be interested in recruiting but not so much these days.

I'll probably be here through the next hire and until the coaching staff is complete then I'll take a step back again until the 2018 season gets fired back up.

I'm a big NBA fan so it makes it easier to focus on something else besides Tennessee sports.

I realistically want Scott Frost and I don't like hearing these Florida people on Finebaum talking about him like he's their's for the taking.

This years Florida game did it to me. I hung tough with Butch through all last year, thinking there were valid reasons things went wrong. I even was willing to excuse the debacle with Georgia Tech. But when I saw us mangle so many scoring opportunities in the third quarter and then lose the way we did it was over. I didn’t care as I watched Florida celebrate.

I’ve found myself caring much less since then. Even Kentucky didn’t bother me in the end as much as I thought it would.

I’m Interested in the coaching search. But I’ve formally given up the desire to try and argue Tennessee is still a top 10 type program or any of those sorts of things that I used to do. Nothing in the last 15 or so years supports that claim. We are a very good program with potential. The right coach can win a title the way Dabo has at Clemson. But we aren’t elite anymore and it would take some breaks to get there.

Maybe I will be proven wrong but that’s where Butch’s tenure has taken me (on top of the 10 years before him).

Perhaps I’ve become LWS!

It is absurd. And embarrassing. Again, the 2% fringe of this fanbase making us look bad.

Kress army strikes again.

And as I said before, I believe it is mostly driven by people who didn't intend to go anyway. That's very noble of them.

I don't intend this to be mean, but if anyone with tix is planning on not going to the Vandy game, I'll gladly take them. I need 4 for my family.
