I think that if the Right coach comes in next year, he moves Richmond to RT, Trey Smith to LT, Byrd to corner, and makes draft picks out of all of them.

Add Cade to the mix if we can swing him back to us, and our O line might be okay...

I'm sure everything anyone has ever seen on twitter has been posted here a thousand times already, but I thought I saw something yesterday that said the administration (above Currie) "didn't want to make a change this cycle."

Does the administration above Currie have the power (or cahones) to prevent Currie from booting Butch with unified donor support?

Why can't we all get on the same friggin' page?

Question if any of you have ever tried this:

Although it is used as a cliche, Tennessee football is something that gets in your blood. With that being said, I don't think you can just "turn it off"...even if you want to.

What I'm getting at is this: In giving our current situation some thought, and going through the possible outcomes, I've come up with two outcomes that are just infuriating: (1) they keep Butch, or (2), they, ahem, "screw" up the process of terminating Butch and end up making a very underwhelming hire.

When I consider these two possible outcomes, my feeling is this: Since this organization will have displayed a complete willingness/endorsement of being utterly average (at best) in football, my natural reaction would be to withhold my support in all forms (time, money, "give a damn", etc.).

As an example, I live near Chattanooga, and I believe Hennen's has one of the best filets around. If Hennen's decides to use a lower quality of meat and/or a less skilled chef, they would naturally lose my patronage.

Which goes back to my original inquiry. Have any of you ever actually tried this? Although I can support my logic, I really just don't think I'd be able to sever ties with my fandom and support of UT football. And, when you think about it, that is really what makes the despair of our situation so much more intense.

Everyone in the gruden thread bet the farm on it. That's why the line moved so much imo

Agree. I do find it interesting Beaver said about a week in advance the line would significantly drop. That could be because he knew people bet on Gruden like crazy after he said that though

I know this has been discussed until it’s nauseating.

Dr Jerry Punch just stated he knows for a fact Gruden is not interested in coaching any college team and will not be a coach at UT. He was certain he would not be our coach or any collegiate coach.

I don’t see any #smokescreen coming from Doc Punch.

He isn’t coming.

Shocker...

Taggart has about odds as Randy Shannon keeping the job. WT is respected in the coaching ranks but he had a losing record and he rubbed a lot of the High School coaches in Tampa the wrong way how he left South Florida. this is basically the new Rooney Rule for State schools in Florida about attracting minority candidates for head coaching job.

Hialeah in here thinking there is no stink on the admin for the way they handled this and UF will get whoever they want as the next HC....how cute!

Is the staff/Butch still recruiting? In the ff, several people are posting that we are not recruiting and that we're not entertaining official visitors. I've always heard that assistants will continue to recruit hard in these situations because it impresses potential future employers.

edit: Hank Hill, I gave a like because I appreciate the response although I hope someone is trying to keep the best parts of the class in place.

I haven’t seen any coaches walking around with recruits the last week or so fwiw. Honestly highly doubt it tho. May just be conisidental.

I don't think he is either, but I wouldn't expect Dr. Punch to know one way or another.

This. Like Gruden would tell him if he were interested. I'm in the no way he's coming camp, but all these media people acting like Gruden confided in them are annoying.

I've given this a lot of thought the last few weeks. The difference as a product between a steak at Hennens and Tennessee Volunteers football is the emotional attachment. I used to love the Braves, but when that emotional attachment was severed by MLB and it's players by the money grubbing strike, that emotional attachment was severed. The thing is, I love the Tennessee Vols because I am a Tennessean no matter where I go. It has, or should I say will take a lot more to sever this attachment, I don't really know if it can be severed for me.

I love the Vols because my granddaddy and my Pappaw did, and my dad does. It is part of who I am, which is why it infuriates me when somebody suggest I am just pitching a fit because a lot of elitist nerds and beancounters from somewhere else are destroying something I love.

I am mad as hell and embarrassed.

Completely agree. And, as I alluded earlier, there isn't a damn thing we can do about it.

I’m tired of getting scolded by the radio via local media on fans being upset and making it known. This behavior is a direct result of the lack of response from our AD. If he would just fire the dude the circus would be over. It’s all on Currie imo and his lack of action. The dude has literally done nothing! Make a statement or fire him! Really easy fix imo....

The optics are fine. Jimmy wore out his welcome within the AD and caused a PR nightmare with the alleged death threats to players. Family members wanted answers and he had none because he made it up. He's lucky to walk away with 4 of the 12M. Nobody is turning down UF bc JMac failed at the task he was hired to do: fix offense, beat rivals and recruit.

Respectfully, no one believes this is why he was fired. I doubt Florida administrators believe it.

I have said I’m going to, if we don’t knock this hire out of the park. I plan on doing my best to stick to my guns. I may watch a game, but I won’t buy tickets or merchandise, and will probably step away from VN.
