Need to lock the old thread, I keep accidently posting in it. I'm going apethetic if Coach Do is hired, but I'm not going to treat him in a bad way. It's not his fault.

I hope he turns us down, although it will just make us more of a laughing stock. I really don't care anymore. I'm ready for Phil to step in and hold us over till next year. Maybe try again after we sweep the dust bunnies out of the closet.

I would rather see UT football burn to the ground than support Doreen or whatever the hell his name is... UT is run by a bunch of buffoons that don't deserve the support of this proud and loyal fan base.

Utter incompetence.

And if Manning has anything to do with not contacting Tee... Then he means nothing to me anymore.

What a bunch of buffoons... Let it all burn

Gundy was just a smoke screen to get some heat off the situation pretending to go all in on a big time coach. I believe that we knew all along that he would not come.

I'm of the belief now that there is only one person that can save UT football... And that's Philip Fulmer. Maybe in 2 years when we fire Doreen and Currie, Fulmer can step in and resurrect UT football.

I ain't buying this Game Of Thrones crap with the boosters. As soon as they hire Doeren the narrative will be "We lost guys , so and so backed out, Haslam did "X" and spooked everybody. They have been feeding everyone a load of fictional crap where the knight in shining armor Gruden is going to save the day and they were instrumental in succoring his services.

We have to keep fighting to get our beloved university back! Never in my life have I heard of such intentional sabotage by boosters, a sitting AD and a beloved alumni! Never! Keep the heat on this- we cannot allow Doreen to be hired here- fair or not keep the tweets coming to him respectful but just asking him to stay at NC State. Surely he doesn't want to subject himself to what will happen if he set foot in Knoxville.

Im going to ask it...

If you knew what was going to transpire, and assume we hire Dave Doneen, would you have fired Butch or allowed him to make major staff changes as he allegedly proposed?

I have read on VN Butch was a micromanager and would not get out of his coaches way. Staff changes would have been rinse and repeat. He changed staff enough already.
This also doesn't include the bizarre ways he found to lose.

Btw if all they are looking at is a hard ass to whip this team into shape it is a mistake.
This team needs a Brohm or Leach or Tee or Miles. They need to be motivated and believe in their coach. Give me a roster ready to eat fire for their coach over one that was beaten into submission by a Schiano or Doeren.

It almost makes me wonder if that stuff on the radio in Seattle was Gruden asking Tennessee for an offer. I seriously doubt that they ever made one. Could that be why it was not quashed this time?

Twitter is already getting fired up. But, we all know how this is going to end.

We wanted Gundy to leave - he stayed.

We wanted Brohm to leave - he stayed.

We want to Doeren to stay - he will leave.

Trifecta.

No one except the people at home who eat up whatever the Sports Animal feeds them is going to support Doeren. Empty Neyland will be a sad reality. I feel bad for our current players.

I'm hoping for Fulmer to step in and hold down the fort with the recruits and try again next year. I think Fulmer is a better coach than Butch and won't micromanage.

I didn't notice anyone talking about it, but I heard on ESPN yesterday that we had offered Jim Bob and he wouldn't take an interview. Also, they mentioned Brohm's buyout, which Skeeter also mentioned. (which goes down a million dollars next week)

Anyone who thinks we should sit back and let them hire this buster is a sheep. It is a terrible hire and they proved yesterday we could get a good coach. They pulled out of the deal because they suck at their jobs and they don’t care about Tennessee.

I’m all for going after those responsible for the hire, but I’m not gonna attack the actual guy they hire.

Let Butch stay. We’re getting the Butch of the ACC. Almost identical conference records. Then they would have time to kick Currie to the curb.
