He only won 3 games his first year as a P5 coach.

He inexplicably loses to s****y teams every year. That’s in a low pressure environment like NCSU. The SEC will chew him up and spit him out.

Yep..especially since he will absolutely suck at recruiting, because of the toxic environment...Kids will know he is a dead man walking as soon as he is hired. They are not stupid

Let me guess—we should ask Kiffin because he has been inside Neyland Stadium and truly treasures Tennnessee...

Maybe you’re setting up for Tee Martin... Loved him as a player here, but the guy is just an OK co-OC and has never run a program before. Supposedly he would recruit better than other candidates—let’s say he actually can. Can he coach and put a good staff together? That VFL smell will start to wear off pretty quick, I think. Missouri fans wanted their “True Son” Odom fired less than a year into his tenure.
You realize Odom is coming off a solid year two at a program many assumed would never recover from the impact their student body protests had on recruiting, right?

We know the only reason our crap admin didn't get anywhere with Brohm, is because they lowballed him. Top 5 most profitable program in all of college athletics because of US, and they lowball him. They are criminally incompetent cheapskates.

My genuine hope is that, assuming he takes the job, Doeren shocks us all and has us in the SEC championship game within his first three years.

I won’t be holding my breath.

Since you have all of the answers. Let me ask. What are you going to do to make it any better? Keep supporting the hires this admin continuously keep making?

Oh, no, it's you who has all the answers. Gruden's coming, amiright?

He’s lost to teams that finished with a losing record twice in five years at NC State (Wake in 2013 and ECU in 2016).

Go back and compare his NC State record to Les Miles’s Ok State record and even Saban’s Mich State record... I’m not saying Doeren will be a hero here, but it’s stupid to count him out as a failure now.

Yes, but my whole point is to not create that toxic environment. Y’all seem to relish it.

Dad Dickey left, and the rats came in through the back door while everyone was sleeping..
They thick as thieves, and are in it for the long haul.
They’re about to get us for another five years with a coaching hire shoved down your throats with a 89% disapproval rate by the our fanbase.
Peyton Manning will be swinging from Haslam’s n*ts at the pressor.
Just like Anderson, Blackburn, Fulmer, and Martin should be praised but won’t..
Anderson did the Gundy interview not Currie..
Blackburn was fired for trying to block the Dooley hire.
Fulmer was paid off so the fanbase wouldn’t riot over the fact he couldn’t get a serious interview for AD. Currie was hired directly by Haslam behind everyone’s back.
Tee Martin won us a championship, and they can’t even make one call to him?
This University is nothing like it was in the 80’s & 90’s..
The University now doesn’t give a rat as* about this state, or you.
They know we love the university, and they will take advantage of it.
So you think about all those things tomorrow..
Tweet, email, cancel season tixs, and call..
Do anything you can from letting this sh*t go on any longer.

Go Vols

I tried to walk away today, but I made a mistake and peeked in, and saw idiot posts criticizing our loyal dedicated and criminally abused fanbase from this moron and a couple of others, and I could not take it. It makes me sick. Thinly veiled attempts to wrap reasonably outraged fans with the lunatic fringe in an effort to defend the malfeasance that has been foisted on them.

I agree with these sentiments, if that is in fact what happened with Brohm. I think they should have done whatever it took to get Brohm, regardless.

WE DID NOT CREATE OR DESIRE WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO US! The administration foisting garbage on us is to blame. Quit blaming us for it. We are just calling this what it is...garbage garbage garbage garbage GARBAGE.

1. Saban had a much richer history as an assistant, including time as an NFL DC. His conference record was much better. 23-16-1 vs 15-25 for Doreen.

2. Miles also had a stint as an NFL assistant to his name, took over a much worse team, and had a conference record of 16-16

Yeah not impresssed. Doeren is another loser like Butch. I don’t want him in the same county as our players, let alone in meeting rooms with them.

Why Brohm though? If they really wanted Gundy and thought he was the best option, why not do whatever it took to get him? Serious question.

Regardless of whether you or I think Gundy is the best hire, if that is your guy, you do what you have to do to make it happen.

Here is a question. How many teams did Gundy publicly turn down this year? How many teams did Brohm turn down? Mullen? Schiano?

Look..I did my due diligence and checked on these guys, and made my mind up long before we thought we would sink to them. I was in on Brohm, he has the potential greatness of a true leader in him, but I am absolutely out on Doeren, he is a Butch level egomaniac jackass that is a garbage hire. I said weeks ago here that I was never going to do what I have done for the last 12 years and rationalize garbage. I said I would a garbage hire for what it is...pure garbage.

If you throw out Doeren’s year 1 at NCSU, his conference record the last 4 years is comparable to Miles’s. Doeren also took a team to the Orange Bowl prior to NCSU. The main point is that if you looked at Saban’s record at MSU and especially Miles’s record at OSU, you never would have guessed they’d go on to be the powerhouses they were/are in the SEC.

I'm like a kid on Christmas morning I really want to know what was supposedly found out about the Haslams

We all need to know so we can get the word out. I for one agree fighting the hire of Doeren is a mistake. What we need at this point is a healthy display of apathy followed by a steady dose of demonstration after demonstration asking for Currie and Davenport to be fired. If there is some sort of dirt on Currie, Davenport or the Haslams we need that info on twitter constantly. We must not let up if we want change. This is quite possibly our best chance to rid our beloved team of the cancers in our midst. I'M not spending a dime for anything that would promote or help the university until we have fixed some of these problems. If we stay united and stand firm we will win.

IDT they lowballed him. I think the offer was solid. It's common to negotiate the buyout and this is where it stalled. Currie probably bungled it, but Brohm walked away, not UT. Negotiations can be reopened if he calls UT before another hire is made.

Because it wasn’t about money for Gundy. He’s already made a bunch of it and will make plenty more. He’s an Oklahoma kid. He’s lived there his whole life. His kids are in high school there, his parents live there, he played at OSU, etc. He’s also turned OSU into a borderline elite program in the modern Big XII. You give him a big offer and he either takes it or he doesn’t — and you don’t waste a bunch of time going back and trying to get him to change his mind.

With Brohm, it’s different. He’s from Kentucky, so Tennessee is close to home. He’s at a school where he almost certainly will never win a championship, so you have an easy upgrade to sell there. He’s only been a P5 coach for one year, so he doesn’t have a bunch of money already — given the other two factors, you should be able to make a big offer to him and pull him.

All the players are starting to get irritated that Tee hasn't even been contacted.

The players need to be more vocal and help us help them. They especially need to be asking why we are looking at Doeren when Tee and Les have not had fair consideration. The players can do a lot of good here. If anyone on here knows a current player or can get a message to the team, please do.

Why do you think most of us were on board with Brohm, but are revolting on a Doeren hire? Does it not seem to you that maybe we are not unreasonable jackasses, but fairly intelligent people who as a group think Doeren is garbage, while Brohm is acceptable? The reasons for that almost wholesale assessment have been laid out all day. Now why do you suppose that disparity in support is?

I actually agree with you. I was exuberant in my endorsement of Brohm and down on Doeren, but if Doeren is going to be the hire, there’s no point in trashing him all over the internet—it’s counterproductive. Might as well give him a fair shot—he’s done well before. It’s been a while since we had a coach that had led a team to the Orange Bowl.

Was it really a solid offer considering the circumstances? You and I, and most importantly Jeff Brohm knew that our circumstances changed drastically because of the initial bungling of the coaching search leading up to Sunday's ishtshow, and Tuesday's predictably futile chase of Gundy. Anybody with a brain knew that we were going to have to pay a hefty premium for a good coach with less than ideal terms due to that stupidity. I believe they lowballed him considering those circumstances, it probably insulted him. I know it would have me. I almost believe it to be intentional sabotage.
