If we are going to trot out ex Natty/failed coaches, why not just go with Fulmer as interim? At least he has the VFL angle.

I have never ever been for Fulmer coming back. Just sayin.

They don't want to destroy the program. They want status quo.

CBJ could recruit because he was probably getting help. Those resources likely dried up when they decided it was time to churn and burn him. That's why the classes suddenly got a lot worse. It's interesting that the classes got worse as the results on the field improved. We had our best years recruiting during Butch's first spring/summer and after a year with no bowl game.

It's the exact same situation right now. The roster has atrophied, and Doeren will be able to sell immediate playing time and his bag men will close the deal. Plus, Doeren actually has a history of putting guys in the NFL. Butch doesn't. I wouldn't be surprised if Doeren recruits better than Butch.

Miles was/is a better coach than Fulmer. HOT TAKE.

too much conspiracy in your theory. I appreciate the effort but I have to think CBJ was a pretty clean recruiter and there was excitement around here for a while with him.

Nothing conspiracy about it. Boosters are known to pull resources from dead coaches walking all the time.

Butch absolutely had help. Listen to the guy's press conferences, for God's sake. Personality of wet cardboard. No players in the NFL. Terrible offense. No-name staff. Two top 5 classes in a row. Strike you a little odd?

Also, the excitement came precisely because he started recruiting well. No one was excited about him from Dec 2012 - early spring 2013. Wasn't until Hurd committed.

Ainge said Currie sent him a text last night, but he didn’t know what it said. Hire him now and stop this mess. He’s not who I want but what we need right now. He may not be a disciplinarian that we need right now though.
