About 4-5 guys say Gruden signed the contract on November 15th in Tampa.

Sounds legit. Are they planning on securing BOT approval or are we just Boss Hogging this through?

Edit: font as blue as Jon Gruden's eyes

Not trying to take away from Petersen because I do think he’s an elite coach, but the previous coaches at BSU were 26-10 and then 53-11.

He’d been left in a pretty good position at BSU. I think he’d be in a position where he could hit the ground running here as well (but realistically not run the table).

Hawkins did go 53 - 11 at BSU. But, wasn’t that with Petersen as his OC? Unfortunately for Hawkins, that success didn’t follow him to Colorado.

Yep. He was OC there for 5 years before he took over as head coach. I didn't realize Dirk Koetter coached there before Hawkins. He had some pretty good teams as well.

Didn't you know? They flew the whole BOT down there, then went to have a party in Atlanta. (not making that up)

No wonder we need a bigger plane. I hope they didn't forget to include UT counsel. The lawyers get so testy when they're left out of contract negotiations.

I still like Campbell.

If he became the top candidate, that buyout is easily workable. He’s making $2 mil with incentives currently. Give him a raise to $3 mil and float that $9 mil buyout over 5 years. Would entail a minimal buyout for us if he’s fired...a substantial ($15 mil?) if he jets on us. By year 3 we should have a pretty good bearing of what we hired and if he’s killing it, we can reward him by making his contract friendlier. Thoughts?

I like it but I don't think he'd come here for $3 mil with the "throw the bank" rumors. Though I don't think you should start him with more than $4 mil. Other than that I say let do dis

Hmmm. There was a poster that mentioned Petersen had interest in this job in the past. He/she was ridiculed to no end. Made fun of. Laughed at. Scoffed at. Wish I could remember which poster that was.

Yep. I brought this up the other day and nobody seemed to buy in. Factor in perks and the backend buyout, and the bottom line cost on Campbell could end up being a better value than Mullen. Without Sexton involved, we can negotiate more favorable terms with Campbell.

Oh, geez, let's at least let you sharpen that sword before you fall on it, Thomas a Becket.

Petersen wants to steal Gruden's job? Hope Currie sets him straight when they talk.

yeah, you'd have to be on crack not to want one of those guys as your coach.

Gruden
Peterson
Patterson
Campbell
Frost

I'd take any of those and glad to hear that Currie is swinging for the fences and all on this list have been mentioned as our potential head coach.

I would like any of these guys.

Didn't say I wanted him back. For the record, I don't want him back. But if we blindly studied his resume, not knowing it was Kiffin's, just about anyone who was being honest with their self would say yeah that dude is a really good football coach. I'd disagree with your statement that he's not a good motivator, his players love playing for him. The guys on his 09 team for the most part here thought very highly of him.

What part of his resume besides this year says he is a "really good football coach"? I mean at least as a HC.
