Is there anyone else who just doesn’t even care at this point? I think I just want us to hire Tee and be done with it.

We are gonna screw it up because we are going out there with the mindset of not paying over market value even though our position makes it where we would have to pay extra for a good coach. So we are gonna hire a lame for $4m and then end up paying him $20m for 3 years work cause he’s getting fired.

Agreed. Just give Brohm what he wants. The thing I don’t get at this point is, in the grand scheme of things, the money we are talking about for these guys is nothing. It is well worth another $10m to have a winning program again, and pretty much anybody you hire (except maybe a Miles or Petrino type) will want a big buyout, so it’s going to be expensive to go with an uninspiring hire that can’t get it done anyway. Brohm has put 4 years as a HC on film, and it is very good. Ideally we’d have another year or two of track record at Purdue, but it’s not in the cards right now. Just go get him.

Given the list of coaches we're picking from (and PLEASE stop saying "oh just throw a bunch of money at x") it seems obvious to me we're not going to be competitive for the next two seasons. Maybe 6-6 next year and 8-4 the year after.

That would be much more palatable to me if the team is run by Tee and we're signing top 5 classes. Also, Tee would be earning his stripes as a HC during that time.

I guess he wasn't part of the search firm then right? Right.

The one that included Fulmer? Don’t know. Never heard any OFFICIAL announcement of who was on there. In any case, none of them MADE the hire...that’s on Currie. Ask yourself this: Peyton hates this man who put a fatwa on his brother’s knees to the point of cussing him out face to face. He’s on a committee that discusses the individual names and supposedly “signs off” on Schiano. How was he looking out for HIMSELF if he assured them he wouldn’t protest publicly? He’s thinking of his school over his own personal distaste of the man.

You’re on a message board.

We are all sitting here saying “I don’t care who it is now. Just hire someone.”

Yeah this is going to end well

Les Miles is the Rick Barnes+ hire.

He can recruit lights out.

He’s a fan favorite.

Players love him.

He developed 21 of 22 starting positions well at LSU.

I know his QBs were bad but a year plus off to reflect and he may see what he did wrong there.

Yeah he makes some weird end-of-game decisions but he still wins, a lot.

Co-sign. Just please bring in some veteran coaches for the staff, Les Miles for instance. IMO a few guys like that would be perfect "consultants" for Tee to have in his corner.

Anyway we could throw a bunch of money at T to come as OC under say a Les Miles?

I like Miles, but his team's couldn't score his last few years despite having ridiculous amounts of NFL players. It was like paint dry watching that offense.

I think it's our best option at this moment.

And he would make sure our field/grass is top notch

Tee HC and Miles as Associate HC/OC. Would help with Miles issues developing at QB and then grab someone like Steele for DC. I'd say that's about as good as we could hope for at this point.

Just connecting the dots, this is what I think is currently happening.

Brohm is currently 1
Morris is 1b
I think Brohm has expressed very little interest and we are coming back at him with more money. Will still say no IMO.

I also think Morris has told us he is waiting on what happens with A&M and we won’t know that until Sunday after Jimbo makes a choice.

If it goes past that it’s either Tee or Les IMO.

I don't think nobody is trying to make you not be a Peyton fan. I think it just surprises people that he would be behind such a terrible coach regardless if he is a terrible human being or not. I would think that Peyton has a wealth of football knowledge, maybe I'm wrong. As far as having loyalty to him, Tee, or Fulmer, I want them to hire a good coach and at least a decent human being. I don't care if he's a "Tennessee guy" at all.

My feeling is that, if nothing else, he lends some stability and even if he doesn’t win he leaves the program in better shape than he left it.

Orgeron is winning at LSU I’m possibly the toughest division in college football, following Miles. Clearly he left them in a good situation.
