This board is a microcosm of UT. Everybody's spinning in circles, wanting to go in different directions. No consensus, no unity. We've been here before. If UT reacts the same way and hires another Dooley or Butch an a futile attempt to save a recruiting class that's already history, we're going to have the same-- or even more damaging-- result. Feels inevitable.
No school would negotiate that unless they wanted to get rid of them like mcilwain. Purdue does not want to get rid of him they will want the full 4-5.5 buyout. He is not worth that plus bonus plus salary.
They wont negotiate below the 12/5 amount, but they will take a discount on the 12/4 amount.
Even if they dont, who cares. The amount of money we are bickering over at this point is so minuscule I cant believe we are even talking about it. The difference in hiring Brohm and hiring Steele dwarfs these dollar figures.
You would pay 17mil up front for Brohm as he was suggesting?
You know...maybe a year away from the grind is exactly what Les needed. He's old but could have 5-6 years left in him.
Whether he's a good hire or not at this point, I have no idea, but it's insane to me that he's not even a candidate whatsoever, apparently.
