I've read a lot of garbage on here since Bajakian left UT. This post, however, is on point. I want to quote it, so everyone can have a chance to read it again.

For some reason (probably based on the fact that I've been on VN during some awful times for UT football), I have a feeling a lot of people on here looked up Mike DeBord on Google, clicked on his Wikipedia page, and saw his record as a head coach. Afterwards, they came on here and freaked out.

I am waiting for someone to point out legitimate negatives about this potential hire. The two I see are recruiting ability/ties and the fact that it does not address the staff's need for a QB coach.

Um, those are pretty serious worries when it comes to college football. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program, and he hasn't been on the recruiting trail for several years now. He didn't even coach football last year. And Dobbs and the freshmen QBs do need a position coach if they're going to learn and get better. I think those are some pretty legitimate negatives.

There's a few very big negatives that I don't think you are wanting to believe.

Marquill Osborne put a picture up from inside the UT locker room, and Hendrix locker was still there fwiw. I saw him playing bball with the other players at the TRECS the other day too. Hopefully he's been convinced to stay. Would make the Ford move make some more sense.

Let me guess... (1) bald (2) overweight (3) older?

Wait, doesn't that describe Coach Strip? And I have no problems with him. He's done an excellent job.

If you can't see the holes in DeBord's resume, then you're willfully blinding yourself. Butch will hire who he hires and we'll all hope he works out, but it doesn't take a genius to see the holes I'm referring to.

The tweet says #tb. It's a throwback tweet. It's probably from his last visit.

For a team that prides itself on effort, we have given none today.

I've seen effort. Effort isn't what gets the ball in the basket, though. We have some major scoring issues. And rebounding continues to be an issue because of our size.

Per source = per Z's agent

Honestly, the source doesn't matter to me. If Butch doesn't feel he's ready to be OC, he shouldn't be our OC. CMU obviously has a different take, but I don't follow Central Michigan football. You don't promote a coach to satisfy a couple of kids. Even if our class rank drops a little, it's worth it in the long run. But that's jmo.
