Do other programs have as many "insiders" and media people covering their program as UT?

This program is flat out oversaturated in the number of reporters, legitimate and illegitimate, who cover its every waking moment.

Makes for more confusion and frustration than anything else during coaching searches or recruiting stories.

Everyone tries to get a leg up, so it's a race to be first rather than right.

This strikes me as a good problem to have.

Better than, say, being a Vandy fan.

Why would Butch want to hire UTCs OC? Or would this be for QB coach perhaps? Also I wonder if that Debord is more for the OL. Does anyone know what's going on really? It seems like with these searches names float out there and then the hire is someone barely mentioned ....

Young coach with exciting offenses. If you went on abstract knowledge, you'd say he's the opposite of Debord. Gotta like one or the other. I like him for sure.

Looking at his bio, he's consistently had top offenses at 3 different places in the FCS. I know that's not the SEC but it does tell me that he seems to know what he's doing.

Maybe Butch really liked what he saw, scheme-wise, when UT played Chattanooga last season. Just a thought.

It's not a bad thing per se. It's nice to have a lot of different takes on the program. But it's always a mess when there is possible breaking news to report.

I would say only Jones and Hart know what is going on. Everything else is pure speculation.

This is as good a time as any to learn this is where most of us are:

I didn't read that as very young. Coaching since mid 90's and two kids that are 20+. But that's ok.

Promoting Azzanni to OC is a mistake. If you have to let him go so be it. Tennessee is not the place for on the job training, especially after these last few years.

I agree. Also if CBJ knows for sure CZA and CJJ are both on the CM radar for the HC gig, make the decision for them and keep a hold of CJJ.

The Durden thing really makes me wonder if they're considering some type of Co-OC deal, with Debord taking the OL/running game title without play calling responsibility and Durden/Azzani/etc taking the passing game/play caller title.

Assuming that route would necessitate Mahoney being let go or shifted to a noncoaching role...I'm really not seeing why people would be upset with that.

I'm completely confused by the board's reaction to these two prospective OC's. Honestly, it really looks like folks don't like Debord because he's 58 - which btw is right at Marc Richt's and Les Miles's age - and only like Durden because he's young since he's not exactly a hot name.
