College football conference title game restrictions to be relaxed by 2016

This is going to allow the Big 12 to have a title game with only 10 teams and no divisions. Which means the SEC can get rid of its current division format and rotate through teams much more frequently. Here is my plan.

Each SEC Team needs 3 permanent rival games every year that rotate home and away. You pick these by history of the current rivalry, proximity, balance of strength and future rivalry opportunities.

Then the other 10 teams can rotate home and away every two years through the other 5 slots. You cycle through those 10 teams home and away in 4 seasons so each 4 year player sees every stadium in the conference and plays each team at least twice.

So Tennessee's 4 year schedule could look like this.

2016
Permanent
@Alabama
@Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Alternate
@Florida
@South Carolina
LSU
Arkansas
Ole Miss

2017
Permanent
Alabama
Vanderbilt
@Kentucky
Alternate
Florida
South Carolina
@LSU
@Arkansas
@Ole Miss

2018
Permanent
@Alabama
@Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Alternate
@Georgia
@Missouri
A&M
Auburn
Miss St

2019
Permanent
Alabama
Vanderbilt
@Kentucky
Alternate
Georgia
Missouri
@A&M
@Auburn
@Miss St

I think this would be the best way to do it. The three teams for each team would obviously cause some drama but wouldn't be impossible to figure out and keep most happy, IMO.

Alabama
Tennessee
Auburn
Miss St

Arkansas
Missouri
LSU
A&M

Auburn
Alabama
Georgia
Ole Miss

Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky

Georgia
Florida
South Carolina
Auburn

Kentucky
Tennessee
Florida
Vandy

LSU
Ole Miss
Arkansas
A&M

Miss St
Alabama
Ole Miss
Missouri

Missouri
Arkansas
A&M
Miss St

Ole Miss
Miss St
Auburn
LSU

South Carolina
Georgia
Florida
Vandy

Tennessee
Alabama
Vandy
Kentucky

Texas A&M
Missouri
LSU
Arkansas

Vandy
Tennessee
South Carolina
Kentucky

Thoughts?

Our system is perfect, there is nothing wrong with it. I love the format of the SEC bc you build huge rivalries with teams in your division. I think it would be horrible not to play UGA, USC, and FLA every year.

Dont seem like that there is as much MO JO this year, like last year and 14, we need a big time recruit to commit and help like TKJ in 14 and K-MAC did last year, i think they both helped big time the last 2 years.

Hmmm I see what you are saying but if divisions went away then the best two teams would always be in title game. No more 2010 cocks or 14 Missouri.

You'd still play the other teams 2 times every four years and add back playing Aub, ole miss, LSU ect 2 times every four years. The benefit would be better.

Who says UK and Vandy have to be two of our rivals either could have UF and or UGA replace one or both.

Yep. It's fine like it is. Besides.......why should we have to be the ones stuck with playing Vandy and Kentucky every year?

I think the point is it will change somehow most likely. So if you have the three scenarios below which one do you pick?

Option 1 - no division format I presented

Option 2 - going to 9 conf games to keep 1 cross division rival and two rotating games against op. Division.

Option 3 -keep 8 games and divisions but lose rivalry cross division games to help rotate other games more.

It won't stay the way it is long where we go to Auburn once every 12 years I promise y'all that.

The system isn't perfect. We don't play Auburn, LSU, Ark ect but once every six years and we don't go to their stadiums but once every 12 years. That's far from perfect.

I'm with ya E2096 something is going to change just a matter of when. If I had to chose I would go with 9 conference games and keep the one cross division rival. I would hate not playing Georgia and Florida every year. If we had 3 permanent teams that we played I would want Georgia Florida and Bama.
