Anyone have Sling TV? My 12-month cable contract with Uverse ends next month and I'm thinking about ditching the TV and just keeping Internet.

Sling TV has all the ESPNs for $20/month, plus SEC Network for an extra $5.

It launched earlier this year, and I've heard it still has some serious issues with buffering/stuttering. Anyone have experience with it?

I don't have it but we have been looking into it as well. We spend so much flippin money on Dish each month and just trying to find ways to economize. We have NetFlix and between that and Sling we figure we could see every show or movie we might want. We thought about trying it for a while and if it doesn't work maybe we could get a kickass deal going back to Dish.

First i have heard of it. Definitely interested in it. I assume it would have the normal channels though? Abc, nbc, cbs, fox, etc? And what about Dvr? Do they offer that?

Yeah, $25/month for football seems like an incredible deal.

It's missing Fox Sports and broadcast channels, but I'm pretty sure CBS streams college football and I could always get an antenna for OTA broadcasts on ABC.

Some channels have DVR capabilities (I assume the feed is recorded in the cloud), but the ESPNs don't.

Basically, the standard package comes with ESPN and ESPN2 (and other cable channels like AMC, HGTV, TNT/TBS, CNN, History, etc.), and you can add SEC Network, ESPNU, and ESPN News for an extra $5/month.

All the ESPNs+SEC Network covers probably 75%-80% of college football that I'm interested in, and CBS's streams cover the next 15%.

I would miss those midnight Pac-12 games to cap off Saturday college football, but meh. I can live without it to save $80/month.

Welp...

Miss Ashlee has been moved out of the PCICU now and onto the floor. It's a little scary for mom and dad but, just means our little girl is continuing to get better.

Three weeks ago, we were in the ER, wondering if she was going to make it.

Two weeks ago, she nearly coded and gave us another huge scare.

One week ago, she was in the OR right now, having open heart surgery.

Today...they're talking about discharging her by the end of the week, as long as she can regain her strength and relearn the suckling reflex to eat.

Wow.

I know Who has been in control the whole time...

Sounds like a great deal. I'm interested to see if Apple will be doing an A La Cart system next month. They will are rumored to be announcing something at WWDC in regards to Apple TV

Such wonderful news, OB. Modern medicine and technology is amazing, but those things are possible because of Him. God bless her and your family.

Look into a Lava Antennae on Amazon, has great range and you get get the network channels in HD, plus there are between 2-3 additional channels for each network giving you more viewing options.

I go through this issue every year. I ask friends who know more than me, and I try to research it. Every time, I come back to the realization that there isn't much else out there right now unless you want to experiment and work hard at it. I found this article you may want to read from the WSJ. Basically, in year 2015, cable still might be the answer and even cheaper. With Sling, I have been told that your internet connection needs to be top of the line. My wife and I have Comcast, and we basically threaten to leave when our bill goes up, and they always give us a discount. Just trying to provide help.

Yeah, I'm torn on what to do myself. Streaming ESPN seems like the perfect solution, but it won't be worth the savings if the stream drops/buffers and I miss plays during games (especially UT games).

I might just keep cable through bowl season and then cut the cord. I think by fall 2016, the options will be better for cord cutting.

I have friends who keep cable through the end of the year and then cancel it until the fall again. I would think that you would have to pay a fee everytime, but they say it works and saves money.

Tough to rely on Internet for TV viewing. Eventually it will be more stable but if you have multiple devices trying to use internet at the same time to stream something like TV then it will be bad quality. If you don't have the multiple room issue then that may not bother you as much
