I know the ones that I prescribe well.
Also ones that frequently cause side-effects that mimic medical problems that I treat.
Any that can affect what I treat or that can interact meds that I use...

There are So many medications, no one can know everything about all of them.
I look up medications frequently.

With my patients, I have found side effects that have not been attributed to themed before. The reps do not like me for that, they have lots of paperwork when that happens.

Does that answer you're question?

Absolutely and good on you for taking care of your patients' side effects drug reps be damned (very few care). Although, I'm aware of insane amount of meds/drugs these days (it also drives me batty that too often patients are the test subjects anymore), I was curious because you were so well versed in giving shots in a painless manner (a dying art if their ever was one). :bow2:

Thanks for answering!

That song came to my mind right before I starting reading your post! :hi:

I have moved from the realist camp back to my natural optimistic, orange Kool-aid drinking self. I think they find the answer at Mike, great talent to work with there, and that the D just rocks everybody this season. If VP will be back, which looks possible, I think the O performs Top 5 in the SEC. Everybody has been down on the O-line. But as units get stronger in the S&C and play together more they develop the chemistry necessary to get the job done. That's all this team needs to make some serious noise and create the new glory days!

Miracle at South Bend:

John Ward at his finest, at the 15:29 mark.

"Snap down, kick is up, BLOCKED. Chasing after the ball, who comes out of there with it? Tennessee will have possession, they're going to run with the football, as its picked away to the 25 to the 30, to the 35 to the 40. Breaks to the outside! To the 45 to the 50, to the 45 to the 40. Floyd Miley can fly. Floyd Miley has the ball at the 15, at the 10, at the 5, HE HAS GONE ALL. THE. WAY. TOUCHDOWN, BIG ORANGE."

One of the reasons that I picked my specialty is that the need for meds is limited. Another is that in many cases the problem can be fixed...

I wanted to be an Internist to begin with, however, except for infections, really just manage the disease rather than eradicating it. I like winning :)

I found my forte was musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems with a healthy dose of joking and sarcasm... :salute:

Some are. It's not to a fever pitch yet. He has a 5th year on his contract, so he is good to go for now. I haven't formed an opinion on an extension. He really needs one to recruit well, but hasn't really earned one yet. There was every reason to believe he could turn this around by now. But they digressed this season. This team was absolutely pathetic at times. It's one thing not to hit well. It's another to play horrid defense and do stupid things on the base paths so often. About half the season went that way. But he may have revealed the issue was primarily attitude with a handful of his more experienced players. He sat 4 of them and took them off the 27 man roster this past week. The team seemed to have responded well, even though they were playing a bad MS State team. They played an equally bad UGA team and got swept earlier in the season with those guys playing, so I tend to believe the roster move had the desired effect. They looked like we expected them to look all season.

Thanks for this update. I haven't paid much attention this year, but heard we were struggling and it sounded like an attitude problem. I like Serrano and attitude can sometimes be hard to coach through. I wanna see what he does next year. After watching them win yesterday I saw no quit. That dug deep and didn't quit and that was good to see.

Nike must have a feminazi who's offended by anything that brings attention
to the differneces between men and women. Can't have that. I'd be willing to bet that they also have a strong lobby in place to support a name change of the Washington Redskins etc, etc. I think it's stupid and really not their place to do anything but make sports gear in sweatshops. But what else can you expect from a guy from Oregon?

The part I care about is that of a corporation trying to tell Tennessee what to do. We decide what our "Brand" is, not some damn money centric company...

Just seems like the "we" part is getting blurred. Up til now I thought Vols was inclusive, but from what I'm reading on here it's male until you put Lady in front of it.

Has been Lady Vols prior to the Fall of 1981, my freshmen year...long enough to be tradition imo. Screw Nike if they eff with our tradition. We are not waterfowl. We are Volunteers. Our name means something!
Eff not with the Big Orange! :salute:

We haven't even begun our Nike era yet and I'm already remembering why I didn't like them in the first place. Too much power.

Exactly. It's one thing if fans demand a change and/or UT implements one on its own but quite another for a corporation to step in and tell a university, particularly one that is a public entity and state body, what to do and impose and/or demand changes based on their corporate goals rather than the university's.

It's really no different than them telling us we need to change our main color to crimson, our name to the Tennessee 'Tiders', drop Smokey and redesign our endzones. Folks only think otherwise because Nike's demands effect our women's teams instead of our football team.

It is inclusive when we're speaking broadly. But when you get down to particulars, the Lady Vols name means something to quite a lot of people, and makes it easy to immediately know which team is playing. However, the major issue for me isn't so much about the name but that there's a forcible change that no one but Nike wants. That's not right imo.

I think a good compromise would be to keep the colors the LVs use but implement a baby blue Power T instead of the LV T logo which, imo, does need a change. That unifies things even more but also allows teams and fans to keep something that has been a major part of their identity for decades (the colors).

I've been following Tennessee sports for some 55 years. The way I see the Lady Vols issue is that the "Lady" nickname was more to set our women sports teams apart from the other schools that we compete with rather than with the Tennessee men's sports teams. Tennessee fans are smart enough to know the difference between men and women.
Not sure it would do any good but if we had an e-mail address to write to Nike and complain, letting them know we are aware of their communication to UT, and get Nike to understand that we want to keep the "Lady Vols" nickname for all our women's sports.
Just saying ...

My fanship is not based upon our color being orange or our name being the Volunteers. For all I care they could incorporate purple into our uniforms; as long as there is a team playing at our beloved university in Knoxville, I am a fan.

I understand your point of view but that's not my (or VolsDoc's) point. I think most would remain fans, albeit there'd be many pissed off ones, because there'd be no choice. However, the point is a corporation shouldn't be making these decisions or deciding what our 'brand' is. They have their own interests that have nothing to do with ours.

When our color was chosen - students chose it. Our nickname references our state as well as the UT dragoons who were a part of the original volunteers who earned our state and UT's nickname by volunteering to fight. These things are a part of our identity. Who we are and what we represent (the entire university not just teams) is attached to these things. It's a part of campus and university culture and far bigger than a sports team.

These things are our heritage, our identity, and with the nickname Volunteers, something the university (students, alums, faculty/staff) aspire to represent at all times. We take it less seriously as students (I did anyway) but it means a great deal to most later on.

Being a Vol and all that entails connects me to my fellow alums instantly as well as current students. It's a bond we share and always will.

**Again it's different when things change without outside interference.

Then again we are ONE TENNESSEE. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

OldVol, I've been following UT sports just a few years less than you and agree completely with your observation as to why the term "Lady Vol" has come to represent women sports. You can call Nike at (800)344-6453 select 0 for customer service and voice your concerns. They'll also send a complaint form.

Also, the university is conducting its yearly phonathon asking for donations. The student I spoke with said a signicant number of alumni declined to donate because of this controversy. I hope Cheek had a contingency plan for academic funding. It won't come from athletics.
