...

“Alvin’s telling me every time, ‘Man, we need you down here.’ And I tell him it’s just a matter of time before I get down there,” Kelly said.

“I’ve been in contact with Coach G just about every week, and he tells me everything that I need to know when I get down there. I’ve got to be ready to work because you never know when one of our backs can go down. And we’re in the SEC, so we need more than one back to carry the load. He just tells me I’ve got to be ready.

“Him and Coach (Butch) Jones already definitely told me that I was going to be playing this year. It’s definitely exciting. I don’t want to just sit around. I want to be out there active, and I want to get a feel for all the competition that I can get.”

“I can’t lie: I’m not going to know what they’re going to throw at us during the summer workouts,” Kelly said. “But one thing that I have been doing the most is running. I’ve been running a lot — a lot of conditioning. I’ve also been doing a lot of ladder work and footwork drills so I can get a feel with my feet and everything.

“But as far as lifting weights and everything, I feel like, from what Coach G always tells me, I’ve got to be in shape and everything, because they’re going to be able to put the muscle on me.

“It’s going to really be that conditioning (I need) in that no-huddle offense, and I definitely want to just be ready for it. And I want to get in that playbook as much as I can, because I never know when I’ve got to be the next back in.”

...

“I’m really close with a lot of the players,” he said. “Me and Alvin, we’re really close. We’ve been in contact ever since the day after I committed and I signed on signing day. Me and Alvin, we’re pretty tight, as well as all the recruits. We’re all pretty close. I’m just really looking forward to getting there and just being able to contribute any way I can.”

Kelly said he has high hopes for what he and his teammates can accomplish this season and over the next few years.

“It’s definitely exciting,” he said. “I feel like we’ve got something special planned for Tennessee, and we’re definitely about to make it happen. I just can’t wait to get down there.

“I really feel like we’re all on the same page, and we’ve all got the same goal in mind. We think that we’re going to be, in a few years, ready for a championship — like, definitely ready for a national championship

Best SEC running backs in 2015 Nick Chubb, Leonard Fournette

5. Jalen Hurd, Tennessee

2014 statistics: 899 yards rushing, 4.7 yards per carry, five touchdowns; 35 catches for 221 yards and two receiving touchdowns

There were several others considered for the No. 5 spot (Missouri’s Russell Hansbrough, Arkansas’ Alex Collins, Alabama’s Kenyon Drake and a few others), but we gave the nod to Hurd. He had a very nice year as a true freshman despite battling through some nagging injuries, and he should be much improved this season. He is a big back who doesn’t shy away from contact, but he also has some wiggle to him. He was the team’s leading rusher and was third on the team in receptions. With Alvin Kamara joining the team, it should help keep Hurd fresh after a year where he got little help in the backfield. Improved offensive line play and a full season with Josh Dobbs at quarterback should help as well.

Two to watch: Jovon Robinson, Auburn; Alvin Kamara, Tennessee
The top two junior college prospects according to the 247Sports Composite just happen to be SEC running backs. The two could work their way into this top five. There are a lot of good running back tandems in the league, and Kamara should team with Hurd to give the Vols a “Thunder and Lightning” one-two punch. Robinson has competition for carries from Peyton Barber and Roc Thomas, but if he separates himself from the sophomores he could have a big season for the Tigers.

UT the only team on the list with two RBs.

My man...

I haven't explored a sixteenth of what i would like to see of Colorado, much less the West. I've seen most of the Southwestern portion, Durango, Telluride, Ouray, Ridgeway...I flew into Montrose on a prop plane...smoothest flight I've ever been on...also the smallest airport.

I love the West. Its the only place in the world I felt anywhere near as peaceful as I do at the beach. I've been to Zion National Park, seen the South, East, and North rim of the Grand Canyon, and explored parts of Utah. I haven't made it to Yellowstone but plan on doing a Yellowstone and Jackson Hole trip in the next few years.

...all this talk of mountains and beaches is making me want to take a vacation, like now.

When you do The Yellowstone-Grand Teton area, plan at least 7 days on site. It still won't be enough time there, but you can at leadt get all the best sites in.

Met an older Georgia alum and season ticket holder at the bar in Gatlinburg yesterday that works with UT WR Jaye Rochell's dad (who was a DE at UGA back in the day). Apparently he's 2nd string as of now and has been placed on full scholarship. I'm not sure if this is a full athletic scholarship or if they came up with a way to piece together some academic scholarships but I thought I would pass it along since I hadn't seen that hit the presses yet. TIFWIW since it is second-hand information from a Bulldog but the gentleman was very polite, friendly, and complementary of both the Rochell family and UT. Apparently this guy was a former UGA track athlete who ran with Herschel Walker and he had some really cool stories about practicing down at Stokely and seeing the walls of UT legends.

I really like how someone brings legitimate football info worthy of discussion, but it gets buried by two different off topic discussions because you guys can't do the civil thing and take it to the off topic thread. I have that thread ignored for a reason.

Ok. How in the hell is this kid not rated higher or at least given a little more hype? Is it due to him being from Detroit? I know good HS RBs are considered a dime a dozen and a lot of RBs get overlooked in the ratings system but this kid is 5'10' 200lbs already and runs like that?

I know everyone that lives near a beach says that you'd eventually get tired of it, the sand, and the tourists but...I've said that for over 20 years. I don't think I'll be changing my mind anytime soon.

You don't get tired of it. OK, the tourists, maybe, but the sea, sand, salt air and beach breezes never get old.

I would say that our 5+ year drought has ended in the last 2 months or less.

NPA:
Devin Harper*of Karns High School in Knoxville is used in a variety of ways for the Beavers but he stood out as a wide receiver on Sunday. A bigger receiver, 6-1, 205, Harper turned in one of the fastest 40s [4.49]of the day and also was tough to contain in one-on-ones. He has an offer from Chattanooga but look for more schools to jump in once he hits the camp circuit this summer.

According to that link there's a kid at Jeff named Gorel Soumare. With that name and him being all of about 20 minutes away from Knoxville and campus, WANT.

What a perfect name.

Lol!

Did you watch the video? There's a kid named Ikkeee okokee or close to that. I posted a Hudl Film on a prospect who is about to blow up.

:eek:lol: No I don't have my sound on right now but that's awesome.

In all seriousness, I'm glad Gorel is getting looks from us. Great prospects don't come out of Jeff or Hamblen often but when they do, I'm reminded of Little Man Stewart who came out of Morristown. Crazy to think that he could've easily been overlooked if Fulmer et al hadn't had their ear to the ground locally.

I really like how it is the deadest part of the year, and some a**munchers still have nothing better to do than piss and moan. Is it so dang hard on your wittle thumb to scroll past a couple of posts you don't want to read? You wasted more time, and thought on your little *****fest .
