EricVol, myself and another poster live on Johns Island, and the real estate is getting crazy even out here. There is constant development of new neighborhoods/apartments. They really need to do something about the roads in the Charleston area IMO, because more and more people are moving here.

Thanks. What about parking in the city if you drive in?

Poogan's is good, I like it for Lunch.

But I'll be honest in saying it is middle of the pack at best, there are some really top notch places that have opened in the past few years.

If you ever want some new recs for you or your parents let me know.

The wife and I are going to a wedding in Charleston this summer. We're going down a few days before to turn it into a vacation as well. I would definitely be up for recommendations on restaurants, things to do/see, etc. Thanks in advance.

I'm a little late to the party, but I also love beaches and mountains. I figured you all might appreciate a picture of the view I get on my way to work every day (you might wanna open the picture in it's own tab to get the full effect...you can see a pretty big one above the right-most fencepost).

Edit: Because I love the pic so much, here's a link to a higher quality one http://i.imgur.com/il73CNi.jpg

I wanna go there...where is that?

It's terrible. Half the time they're not even talking about sports
I always thought clay was the one who derailed the show every day and was glad when he left. Im still glad he is gone but now i realize brent was just as much to blame for every show getting sidetracked. I hate it. If i tune into a sports talk show i want to hear about sports, not what all they had to drink the night before or how they think jimbo fishers house is decorated.

Please stop talking about even the possibility of losing to Florida. I get irritated even thinking that could happen. The streak is over. Butch has this. He knows what to do.

3HL is just painful to listen to now. I feel like Brent is even slipping now that Clay isn't there.

Totally agree. That new guy Mickey, is super boring and brings nothing. The show went straight downhill after Clay left. And Clay was a huge irritant, but entertaining.

I work on the Izu Islands about 60 miles from Tokyo. The big mountain on the far right in the distance is Mt Fuji. The people who live here take the view for granted. I can't help stopping and staring across the sea to the Izu Peninsula on nice days.

Thought that looked familiar, spent three good years at Camp Zama.

Clay lost a lot of momentum when he left 3HL. The show also lost quite a bit of it's appeal. It was a lose-lose. Brent doesn't have the right personality to hold court himself. He needs Clay.

Was stationed in Atsugi for 2 years. On a clear morning had a view of Fuji from my barracks window. Never climbed Fuji and the saying goes "if you come to Japan without climbing Fuji, you will be back".

My wife and son have been begging to go to Japan. Hopefully the saying is correct.

I really believe you can never count out Missouri, just for the simple fact that they are well coached, as good as any in the conference. Granted, they've had some good draftable talent in places the past few years, but by no means UGA talent down the board. Definitely get the most out of what they have IMO.

And an easy schedule.

Destin Area:
Dewey Destins for seafood.
McGuire's is a great Irish Pub with a view.
AJ's is decent...better bar than food though.
Lucky Snapper, too.

I live in the area - ditto on all the above with one note - Lucky Snapper is gone, the property was purchased and Margaritaville is now there.

There's no place on Earth better than Tennessee.

The reason I'm as "at home" here as I am in East Tennessee...

from the Destin Chamber: "The unique sand of the beaches in the Destin area is among the whitest and most homogenous of the world.

Consisting of small quartz particles, this sand came from a process involving the Appalachian Mountains and the Apalachicola River 20,000 years ago. At the end of the last Ice Age when the world temperatures began warming and the ice caps began melting, large volumes of water were carried by the rivers to the world’s oceans. The Apalachicola River, rising in the Appalachians, carried water to the Gulf of Mexico and continues today.

This water carried the quartz particles from the rock that forms the Appalachian Mountains and deposited them in the Gulf of Mexico, just 125 miles to the east of what is now Destin. As the sea level began to rise, these quartz sands eventually formed a new shoreline. The sands today continually replenish and reach as far west as the Pensacola Pass, their final destination." :)

I plan on being here the next 2-3 years. I'll be making the climb sometime over that period. If you find yourself in the neighborhood and want/need somebody to show you around, let me know. There aren't too many fellow Vols around here. Getting here is expensive as hell and the language barrier can be frustrating if you don't speak any Japanese (or even if you do speak some Japanese), but it's a great place to visit. People are super kind and the crime rate is one of the lowest in the world.

I've never felt so at ease walking around alone at night in such a huge city before.
