Hurd is a great receiver. It's going to be fun to watch it play out. I bet one or the other will have the hot hand different weeks.

Hurd is a great receiver, but I think it's worth noting that most of his receiving yards were essentially "run" passes. We ran so many screens because we couldn't run block worth a dang. He still had to catch and run, but he used his running skill set a lot more than acting as a receiver.

While in Knox for my orientation yesterday, I might have spent ~$150 on some new Nike gear. This potential gear might also be fresh to death.

I don't even know what that means.

Hurd is extremely good, but the kool-aid is pretty thick. With our current OL, he may break the 1000 mark. Kamara good for 700 more.

Be more realistic and you won't be hurt and depressed like last year!

8-4 this year, 10-2 next.

I believe he had 890 + last year with virtually the same O-line. Didn't he NOT play against UTC and Vandy?

So, by this logic.....he wouldn't have gotten 110 yards against those two teams COMBINED to go over 1000?

Got it.

Yes but Kamara will get a lot of the load too this year

All he would need is back to back 1,100 yard seasons. Totally possible.

This seems the more realistic way Hurd will make his mark. With Kamara getting big yards too, hard to see Hurd having a record season but if he stays healthy the standard you suggest is entirely doable for him and it would be quite an accomplishment.

Guys

I'm so ready for the season to start. I've been aimlessly roaming this site more and more... Just waiting for some unidentified piece of real news or something to get really excited about other than the fact this season will be exciting.

It's awful.

Just something to compare to.

In 2014.....

Alabama's 2 main RB's and their QB combined for over 2300 yds on the ground. As a team, they had almost 2900 yds.

Henry - 990 yds
Yeldon - 979 yds
Sims - 350 yds

Georgia's two main RB's ......not counting their QB ran for 2458 yds combined. As a team....3352 yds.

Arkansas......2 RB's.....2290 yds combined. Team 2834.

What these others are saying is not at all out of the realm of possibility.

Edit: meant to add that as a team UT rushed for a total combined 1903 yds. We had less rushing as a team, than these teams two RB's had. Tells me we left a lot of ground yards on the field last year. I don't think we will have the same problem this year.

1,400 would be a top 3 season all time.

Even 1,300 would be good enough for 5th best.

Not happening splitting time with AK and running behind our OL. This is sunshine pumping on a new level, 2500 yards rushing with the worst OL in UT history coming back. I get they'll be better, but no amount of realistic improvement will make them a Tennessee top 5 run blocking OL.

Yeah, I don't really see it. Although I don't think the OL has to be top 5 level good.

It's not sunshine pumping in the least. It's called looking at the players and using statistics.

2014

Hurd - 899 yds
Dobbs - 469 yds
Lane - 300 yds

Total for those three - 1668 yds

Hurd did not even play in two games. Lane was hurt most of the season.

So 2500-1668= 832 more yds we need to get this season. We're replacing Lane with Kamara and hopefully we get a full season out of Hurd, who could have easily had 1200 yds last year had he played against UTC and Vandy.

I think it is very possible. It's not going to be easy, but it is possible.

Everyone: "Hi Face!"

Face: "Sometimes I wander the streets looking for scraps of last years football programs. I have an irrational love for peanut butter. I am so overwhelmed by Butch that I became a lesbian, you know, so I could be butch. I love the color orange so much that one time I ate 432 Cuties....:sob:"

Session leader: "It's OK Face. We understand. You are accepted. This is a safe place."

Well... Maybe a little over the top. But, the sentiment is appreciated.

Another way to get there is UT averaged a little over 200 rush yards per game (counting Bama) with Dobbs under QB. If they have that for a full 12 game season that's very close to 2500 yards, not unreasonable.

It's also 208 yards per game to get to 2500 yards in 12 games, which would have placed them 35th in rushing in 2014.

Exactly.

i can see the Vols rushing for 2500 yards or more this year easy,as long as no serious injuries occure .hurd missed two games and dobbe only played in half the games and kamara is a big upgrade over lane.i can see those three alone getting 2500 yards with any o-line improvement at all.I ain't saying it is sure thing but it is very possible.

So... July is flying by. SEC Media Days start on Monday and then it's a little over 2 weeks until fall camp.
