BB, how long was your recovery from all this?

hehehe.......I'm stubborn man. Must be the Marine in me.

They wired my mouth shut real tight. I was on a liquid diet for 8 or 9 weeks. Lost 35 pounds....all muscle weight. I've never been overweight, always in shape, so all I had on me to lose was muscle weight.

They told me I would be out of work a minimum of 8 weeks. I went back for a check up after weeks and to get my pain meds prescription refilled. I asked the doctor again, when I would be able to go back to work and he said about 6 or 7 weeks.....when you get off the pain meds. I threw the new prescription he had written at him and started walking out the door. He asked me what I was doing. I said, going to work, you can keep the prescription. I went back, mouth wired shut and all.

Should have been out over 2 months. Was back in 2 1/2 - 3 weeks.

The broken eye socket could be the worst part. I know this from experience. I had both eye sockets broken at the same time, along with both sides of my jaw, the roof of my mouth and had my nasal/sinuses crushed. I had to wait a week for the swelling to go down before they could do surgery.

All that from hanging her Vandy diploma above the toilet? Seems harsh. :)

I keep reading the practice updates but one name i never see is Austin Sanders. I really liked him as a recruit and was hoping this would be his year to break out. Am i missing something or is he just a non factor so far?

I was commenting on your desire to argue or "debate". Since you don't know me you have no reason to put me into your "People like me" category of "chimer's".
It's my guess that I've been watching UT football longer than you or possibly your parents have been alive. I know I value my beliefs much more than I would ever value yours.
JMO FWIW

I value your belief system!

You also used your thing wit and wisdom to thoroughly thrash that Youngin :)

You are definitely a Marine! lol.

I knew a girl in HS who had to have her jaws wired shut because they medically broke hers to fix her TMJ. She was on a liquid diet for a good while and lost weight but I don't think she lost anything like 35 lbs but then I don't think she was wired as long as you were and obviously wasn't suffering the same sort of trauma.

Oh and of course, we made her talk whenever we saw her because it was funny (she took it in good humor tho).

He's still just a redshirt sophomore this year, so he's got a long way to go in the program. Will probably fight for a spot in the two-deep once Kerbyson, Jackson, and Crowder are gone after this season.

Guess he's crazy. Coach told him he can't be on the team so he knocked him out and kept beating him.

Significant facial trauma is often associated with traumatic brain injury. If you can, make sure that they watch the coach closely. If mild, often goes undiagnosed...

If he is married, suggest to his wife that she demand a cognitive screen from both a Speech Language Pathologist (speech therapist) and Occupational Therapist prior to hospital discharge. The he needs Neuropsych testing to make sure all executive or higher cognitive functions are intact.

The brain injury can often recover if correctly diagnosed and treated early. Depending on injured area, specific retraining can occur...mental exercise, etc.

He will also be in our prayers.

Love the stuff that keeps coming out about Brett Kendrick and the offensive line. We aren't going to have a bad line again. I don't believe it.

I rarely have anything to add. I've enjoyed reading the recruiting updates for a couple years now.. I didn't wanna reach the message-board-poster stage of my Vol obsession. I finally caved in.

Welcome. Post often. :hi:

I may be wrong about this but I think I remember seeing a report on VN that Sanders had been doing better in practice and was recognized by the coaches for his effort.

A buddy of mine had his jaw broke because his overbite was so bad. It was like an inch off. He's 6-3 or 6-4 and weighed in at a whopping 130 lbs as a senior and he lost probably 20 lbs. plus he was freckled and red headed. Poor kid had it rough. No telling how many Sonic shakes I bought him trying to put some weight on him.
