If we finish 9-4 with 6 wins in a row, I think we likely will be ranked in the top 20ish when all is said and done. That would be nice and well deserved for this team.

A season like that would be a great recruiting tool if nothing else. CBJ can say, yeah we brought in two great classes with boat loads of talent, but we still need you to help push us over the edge. Then point to all the true freshmen that played this year.

I think this recruiting class could end very nicely.

Thinking about the game again and a few thoughts.

How about that damn defense holding them to 19 points. Great effort last night. Guys played tough.

Offense ran the ball great against a tough smashmouth defense with two true freshmen on the o-line.

Passing is still a work in progress but there is progress being made.

Wish kamara was returning punts but bama seemed to have excellent punt coverage also.

Bama is a tough team. Very few if any will score much on them and Tennessee probably should have had 23 points. Can't complain.

Don't k ow much about kicking, but something has got to change. Kicking has been an issue for awhile. The guys got a big leg, and seems to be able to nail the posts with ease, so he's close.

Winning out shouldn't be an issue and hope this team comes.out next weekend pi$$** off and beats the brakes off UK.

Jalen Hurd, the guy is an animal and IMO could be the best rb to ever play at ut. He's just good.
He always runs hard and when guys come up to hit him he makes them.pay big time.

Vereen played great.

Malone played good and made a heckuva catch. Nice to see north again. Johnson had a nice grab.

Side note, if I'm a bama fan, I'm mad as hell. That team should pound the rock and they would never lose. They have a great running game and Henry is big and always goes forward.

Well maybe you don't really know anything at all about football

Apparently not and that's what my post was saying.

My guess is a large large majority of posters would have scoffed at the idea of dropping 2 Safties back had it been brought up last week. Anybody saying they were calling for that D is likely telling an untruth

I know I felt that our only chance was to commit our Safties to the stopping the run and hope Coker wouldn't beat us.

Hats off to CJJ for playing a defense no one, that I recall, suggested would work.

Good to see that there isn't much second guessing going on here after the loss

My confidence is growing with the staff for sure. There was only one second guess I had.

I thought we should have gone for it on 4th and 10 instead of the third long FG attempt. I also admit it wasn't a clear cut Decision either. 50-50 kind of call.

It appears that the staff has figured out that coaching scared won't work in his league. The only thing they have to do now is get the close/big wins and I think those are coming. I'm pissed off and upset...but I'm also encouraged by what I've seen from our team and coaches lately. I think we are on the way.

Encouraged to see most of you have handled yesterday well. Hopefully the outliers feel better after a little sleep.

A few thoughts:

- we were very fortunate Bama dropped a couple interceptions
- our OL really struggled in pass protection, but DeBoard did a good job of recognizing this and calling more plays for Dobbs to throw on the move.
- we need to recruit a kicker. medley has plenty of leg, but he needs to be pushed in the spring and in the fall. Constant competition will make him better.
- great game for our pass rush. Best in years against a big time opponent.
- Hurd, Kamara and Dobbs will put up video game numbers the rest of the season.
- honestly, we shouldn't have a game decided by single digits the rest of the regular season. Should boat race all 5. I think we will.

I just said in the game thread that, if we can get to rolling against UK and not come out flat, then I think we win by 14+ in our remaining games.

I thought it was a good decision...4th and 10 against that defense would have been tough. Hindsight is always 20/20.

I hope my post didn't come off as complaining. It certainly wasn't a clear cut Decision. I will say this it wasn't hindsights for me. I was calling for us to go for it at the time because I thought getting 4th and 10 was more like than making the FG. Both weren't good chances though

Didn't take it that way. Just stating I thought it was the right choice.

I just went to the Bammer board and read from the middle of the game, which is not unlike our fans when we are sweating a game. What made me laugh is that they complained about CBS, too. Verne seems to mispronounce their players names just as much as he does ours.. (Coney Vereen)

For all those "fire Butch Jones" people, some fans felt they were out coached and out played.

I look forward to it being a rivalry again, instead of a blow out from now on.

GO VOLS!

We got very unlucky at the end of the first half.

CBJ was doing exactly what he should have done by trying to run the clock out but Saban didn't call a TO like 90% of the coaches out there would have done.

Had Saban called a TO we would have had plenty of time to get closer for a FG or even a TD maybe.

Good post except I disagree with the one comment. That's the standard response to the pocket being pushed, except it does not work well against quality defenses that are disciplined in contain as well as that as a general rule Dobbs is not as accurate with roll outs. He seems to be really inconsistent with his footwork. The more appropriate response is quick underneath routes in front of and between the LBs and safeties leaving Hurd in to pick up the first man breaking through or blitzed. Dobbs is more accurate as a pocket passer between the hashmarks. When the D then adjusts for those routes it opens the intermediate routes and roll outs can become more effective.

Well...we've definately earned it. UK is the best remaining and they looked like a steaming pile of doo doo last night.

Heck yea we earned it

I actually think Vandy might be the toughest game left as long as we don't have a trap like game next week.

Vandy defense is legit

It's going to be hard to look back on this season and think about what might have (should have?) been.

Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas...Alabama...all with legitimate chances of winning and being in the thick of the SEC crown...as well as contending for a spot in the playoff.

Maybe we're a year away...I don't know...I'm sick of saying that but, this team sure as hell seems like it was ready THIS year and that's as frustrating as can be.

We SHOULD run the table from here on out and set up for a nice bowl game, hopefully against a quality opponent that we can beat into submission and springboard off of into next year.

Justin Martin is a dog at CB. If Sutton stays we'll have the best tandem in the country next year. Martin made a lot of plays in the game last night. Turned quite a few running plays in with Henry. They made Coker hold on to the ball a lot with their press coverage. Alabama had to throw the back shoulder passes to get anything really on the two CBs. Also Malik Foreman played much much better. He's progressing at the nickel.

What made me laugh is that they complained about CBS!

I was at the game and didn't hear the commentary, but CBS did everything they could to ruin the atmosphere of the game with how long their TV timeouts are.

Close back and forth game between two of the biggest rivals in the conference; and during the 4th quarter we're forced to sit there for 5-6 minutes after just about every possession. Obviously TV commercials are necessary but CBS is brutal compared to other networks.
