So the BOT would choose the successor if that happens? With all the fiascos Cheek had last fall with gender pronouns and holiday parties, I wouldn't think they would replace a liberal with someone even more crazy and liberal in Martin. If they're hell bent on hiring a woman to appease the current climate, I'm sure there are lots of options instead of her. Boosters better make their statements very loud and clear$$$

According to vq Johnson has hired a prominent attorney from Knoxville and will fight this for whatever it's worth. Also I want to inject some positive energy in this thread. Remember who our defense line coach and our new defensive coordinator is. We have one of the best dl coaches in the country that will figure this so called problem out. And we have an excellent defensive coordinator that took vandy talent and basically kicked the sec offenses in the nuts. We will be fine.

Do people REALLY think the UT administration and/or athletic staff is responsible for, enables, or condones this type behavior? That is an absolutely absurd thought. So now Butch is supposed to have the ability to see into the future and know if any of his recruits will commit any criminal acts?

And this isn't just a UT issue, nor a sports issue. People all over the world do bad things every day. Why can't it just be that they did something bad and the responsibility is on them? Why does there always have to be someone else, someone "higher up" if you will, to blame?

With the exception of Von and Marlin, haven't all of the players who have even been accused of some sort of sexual misconduct been dismissed? Short of knowing the future, i'm not sure what more could be expected of the administration and staff. And this isn't the same as saying any of this is ok or accepting it. Bottom line is this country has gotten too far away from the concept of personal accountability.

Well, they better fix this thing right now or you will have bigger issues down the road. The problem with the real world now is if things like this happen and you don't get it fixed then the people higher up will feel the heat and bear responsibility regardless if it is fair or not in your eyes. It is the way things work. If I hire an idiot tomorrow and they do something stupid like Crowder did, then if you think it would not affect my company, you must be naive. Employees actions can negatively cause harm to a company and players actions collectively can cause harm to Tennessee. Isolated things happen from time to time but fair or not, this is happening way to often at UT. Those kids will be held accountable but when you bring them on campus or into your employment as a business owner, bad actions sure as heck reflect on you.

CBJ has been consistent in handling assault cases-- suspend immediately and indefinitely when a player is under active investigation and dismiss from the team when arrested and charged with assault. Von Pearson wasn't arrested and was reinstated when the investigation was closed. Ditto Marlin Lane. AJ and Williams remained suspended for months and were dismissed when they were charged. Paulk would have been arrested and charged, but the female declined to press charges, so he skated. CBJ dismissed him based on the evidence. Presumption of innocence applies, but Alexis Johnson can be dismissed now, based on team policy.

I tend to agree. This happens everywhere, but UT isn't doing everything they can to keep players on the team like fsu and OU. It's crazy that Mixon is still on that team when he broke bones in a girl's face with a closed fist, Johnson is about to get kicked off the team for what he did, but UT is going to be painted as the school that enables that behavior.

$EC. It doesn't matter that we've been down or that we've been proactive. We're an SEC school and that puts a target squarely on our backs. Why write about UT? Because anything about UT - a top member of the SEC - sells.

To us, we represents ourselves but to the rest of the country we represent everything they hate the SEC for whether it's true or their own fantasy.

Here we go lol

I like you Catbone, but with the way this week has gone and your pessimistic nature, I think maybe you should consider a VN vacation for a few days lol

Go do something fun and/or worthwhile. Get some sunshine. The world is a pretty cool place if you let yourself see it.

This is the environment that he thrives in!

Not sure why everyone is worried about the DT depth. Paul Bain is back on the roster.

He wasn't there this morning. I checked again when he was brought up. They put him back in the last few hours.

It's crazy how much non-scholarship players cycle in and out of that official roster.

I swear something happened to him in December where he couldn't or wouldn't allow himself to post anything positive anymore. I think he's let his reputation get the better of him.

Alright thanks. You're probably right. See y'all next week I'm done for a while. I was physically ill last night after the Alexis crap

This is exactly what I've been saying. I'm surprised by the panic at depth. Tuttle coming back certainly plays into it. The other four being healthy certainly plays into it, but that would be the case regardless.

Losing Johnson is only worse than losing Picou, and that's debatable seeing as Picou has actually seen practice reps.

Again, it does put more stress on the next class.

I'm not panicking. This is all just speculation at this point. However, yesterday I thought we had a five man DT rotation of Tuttle, McKenzie, Johnson, Vickers, and O'Brien. That's championship caliber talent and depth right there.

Now, 24 hours later, 40% of that rotation is suddenly very questionable. If Tuttle and Johnson are both out in 2016 (again, no one knows that will be the case ATP, so purely hypothetical), we're looking at replacing them with Picou (who probably still has a long way to go to be an SEC-ready DT IMO) and/or a converted DE or OL. You can try to put a happy face on it, but if things do shake out that way, that's a MAJOR drop-off from Tuttle and Johnson IMO. I think it could mean 1-2 additional losses.

Alexis Johnson is still on the roster. He's not been kick from the team, just suspended. We'll see how long that last. It may depend on what happens between now and his first court appearance.

SIAP but this was from Rucker late last night...

Listen, guys, I'm going to put this extremely — and I mean EXTREMELY — lightly, but I've heard that there are conflicting stories on this situation with Alexis Johnson, and that everyone would do well to let this play out a bit before making a final judgment.
Those charges look bad — I mean, really bad, no lie — but I've heard there might be more going on than meets the eye here.

If this didn't come from someone I trust, I wouldn't post it. But considering where it came from, I decided to post it.

I know there will be a million questions, but for now all I'm going to say about this is what I just said. We'll see what happens here.

Hadn't seen that posted yet.

From Dustin Dopirak:

The victim, who previously dated Johnson on two occasions, told police she was "play fighting" with him in the living room and the bedroom of his apartment sometime between 3-5 a.m. Sunday when the horseplay turned violent, according to arrest warrants. The episode escalated when the 6-foot-4, 295-pound Johnson placed his hand around the victim's throat, repeatedly choking her to the point that she could not fight back and felt she was going to pass out, warrants state. A witness said Johnson "appeared to be really punching her," and that the victim's lip was "busted," according to the warrants.

"The defendant attempted to repetitively touch and kiss her and she repeatedly stated that she did not want to have sex with him," the warrants state. "(The) victim attempted to leave the bedroom and said the defendant blocked the door prohibiting her exit. While doing so, the defendant stated, 'You think I won't (expletive) you up?' "
