No doubt his attitude had taken a nosedive. Some of the players may not have liked him, but they didn't boot him.

Interesting
Edit: Apparently not real. My apologies.
I guarantee you his hand was forced if he, indeed, refused to play in the second half of the USC game. I went back and watched some of that game, and you can definitely see Dobbs approach him after the fumble when CFA hits the ball. I don't believe the timing is a coincidence.
Berry has a right ankle injury. May be a high ankle sprain. They haven't released when he will be available.

Not sure what you are referring to, but this is from TOS in regards to what Hubbs said about Hurd having to sit out a year no matter what:
Hubbs has researched this. according to rules, when you only have one year left you must sit a year even if transferring down to D-2 level. He has to sit a year no matter where he goes.
I beginning to believe (this is speculation) that Butch gave Hurd an option. I think he may have told him, I can announce your transferring or I can announce you have been dismissed for a violation of team rules. Which do you prefer?
To make a decision to transfer with having to sit a year makes no sense. I think he ends up in draft in 2017
Here's a post from Lynxvol last week. LWS seems to agree with what I believe to be true. Hurd was booted and he is entering the 2017 draft.
Also, I believe that the position change/transfer talk was all made up by Hurd and his camp to spin this story to make it not look so bad on their part. Quitting makes him look like a terrible teammate as does getting booted with 4 games left. Transferring/position/scheme change story makes them look maybe a little less selfish but incredibly stupid (temporarily) until they finish up this semester and they can announce he's entering the draft.
I heard them discussing the transfer situation on the radio. Apparently, Hurd can stay enrolled at UT and graduate academically in the spring. If he does, then he can transfer wherever and play next year. I do agree with you though, he will probably declare.
