Butch says Vols' quality-control review of injuries focus on "preventable" ones like soft-tissue ones. Can't control "football" injuries.

Butch: In recent years we had so many high-ankle sprains with our linemen. We ordered new braces and haven’t had one since. We always look.

That South Carolina loss is VERY disappointing. Even with all the injuries no excuse for that loss.

That being said, I will be ecstatic with a trip to Atlanta.

With how they have been playing, our injuries, night game in a hostile atmosphere with the tension in our locker room that game is forgivable to me if it is the only upset.

We lose another and then I am made about both, we win out and I forgive that one.

Anyone have a video/pic of that INT by Bama in the 3rd quarter that was reviewed?

That ball left a divot in the turf and was not over turned. Bama scored their only TD on that possession.

Edit: It occurred when Bama was up 7-0

Agreed

I will have amnesia if we get to Atlanta.

Hey Sam! :wavey:

Sup.

After the SC game I forced myself to not even come here. Not even to lurk. Didnt wanna see the meltdown nor be tempted to comment myself. Needed some time away. Get my inner volssambone calmed down. I doubt others did the same. I bet the meltdown was something to behold.

I came back on after our win/FL's loss and started lurking sat evening.

Evan Berry's injury went from a cut over his eye to a high ankle sprain to a knee injury and out for the year in about 6 posts. A microcosm of our season.

Why risk Abernathy when we're already so thin at DB?

Don't get me started. Acknowledged coaching apologist, but have hated their return personnel mindset since the Devrin Young days. Something about trust and caution. :pinch: These last two seasons have some wins via Berry/Kamara/Sutton returns. If you have weapons? Use them! Let the Devrin Young's, Jacob Carter's and Josh Smith's attempt to block for a playmaker...jmo.

UF has a bit of an injury bug at the moment too. Del Rio is out vs South Carolina.

Gamecocks will be fired up to win that one, while UF may feel like they're in a mini tailspin.

But is Callaway not a more proven/successful returner than Abernathy?

I know it sounds funny, but he looked too light for the role in fall camp to me. He needs to play at 315-320 as the D is currently designed for DT's IMO. He needed to be more Shy's size. The SEC has some powerful O-linemen and I don't think out-quicking them is K-Mac's game. Quay Picou is the guy to play the old Owen Wiliams quickness role.
I agree 100% with this

Gamecocks win 27-13. Vols then blast the cats and again are in control of their own destiny.

The TD play should've been called back with blatant holding at the point of attack. It's ridiculous
.... LSU proved what I thought about Alabama on offense though. Good LBs will neutralize it with ease. Hurts is the worst passer in the SEC.

Don't blame you one bit. As you know, I expected it so I was prepared. I knew when everyone was predicting a blowout it was setting up to be a huge disappointment. Hopefully we've flushed the bad juju down the toilet and it will be all.good from here on out.

I've said a few times this season that I think Butch is gone before 2018 due to a firing or leaving on his own when his reputation is still in tact as a good coach.

I am now of the belief it could be before 2017. His recruiting is a hint.

I kinda get the feeling that South Carolina is going to be a pain under Muschamp. He has his QB now. And that defense will only get better. The team is playing over its head now with Bentley.

What has changed your opinion to it being before 2017?

You think after this season??

I still think 2018, but 2017 is on the table imo. Just tea leaves stuff, so don't put any weight in my opinion. I'm often confused.

Good idea. We were in (not so) rare form. May use that strategy if they don't make it to the SECCG. Three games against losing programs should be the answer to any concerns. Glad you are back.
