A lot of y'all don't like Bruin and toss out anything he says because of that. He's making some decent points.
Shoop hasn't looked great this year. Personally I think injuries have played a huge factor. The slow starts are concerning to say the least though.
Where are all the people who said "look what he did with Vandy talent. I can't wait to see him here" ???? We still have more talent than Vandy. Are you gonna blame it all on his assistants?
Fact is that fans bought the hype on Shoop and are gonna look for any reason they can to blame someone other than him.
I know it is a football forum, but everything is talked about in this thread-- Is AL going to start gaining momentum in Basketball too with Avery Johnson? They just got a 5* and a 4* commit Friday... AND a kid from Chattanooga is going to KY.... I admit I don't keep up with Bball recruiting, but I think it's safe to say Ricky B isn't pulling in that type of talent... Do you guys think this is just a finishing point in his career to coast, or do you think he will start pulling some higher-tier guys?
I'm not arguing draft position. I'm arguing NFL production.
Just because you get drafted higher doesn't mean you'll be better. See Jared Goff vs Dak Prescott.
Their rookies! You can't even compare them at all yet. Try in tem years
Jeff Fisher historically holds his rookie QBs out for AT LEAST one season and more see Steve McNair. Crazy to attempt to make an argument 10 games into a career too.
Also he's comparing NFL QB rookies to a DE. Apples and Oranges.

Dak and Zeke are killing it because the ol. Put Gurley and Goff on the Cowboys and you see similar results.
That's why I'm always against drafting your qb and RB of the future until you have an ol to support them.
As someone who has religiously followed Vol basketball for the last 15 years or so...
The immediate future does not look bright.
We don't have talent. We aren't bringing any real talent in, and we have a coach that was fired for perennially underachieving with tons of talent.

Sometimes people just refuse to see the facts because they don't match their opinions.
I just read an article that said Tennessee was next to last in the SEC in TDs allowed, yards allowed, and 3 and outs forced to start games. Those are facts which match what I have seen saying.
My opinion is some of the reason for that is injuries, shoop's unfamiliarity with his roster, and poor game planning. All of it plays a role IMO but the facts are the defense is playing worse at the first of the game than any other part.
I just read a stat from CFB Film Room that UT is missing Jalen Hurd's power running style because he led us with 55% of yards after contact compared to Kamara at 40% and Kelly at 29.6%. What they fail to realize is that Kelly doesn't get hit until making some yards beyond the LOS and didn't have a negative play until this past weekend. Who cares about yards after contact if the defense can't make contact? We can all read the stats, but some can be very misleading.
Just watched the vol football snapchat for today and it just seems kind of stupid to still be doing the circle of life drill this late in the season with as many injuries as we already have. Just wondering what everybody else thinks about it
