Name a coach that can we (or anyone) can hire that can consistently beat Saban and Meyer? They are the top 2 coaches in college football at the moment and no one else is even close.

Petersen, Herman, Gruden, Kiffin. Maybe Shaw if he was at a top program. Of course, these are who would I would project to be able to compete with those 2. Everyone is technically an unknown. I put Kiffin because I'm not sure how things went so bad at USC. Still think he's going to be really good somewhere soon.

Edit: Also Petrino, not sure how I could forget him. Him and Kiffin have some obvious baggage though.

The injury possibilities playing this sport sucks. Health reasons obviously but also because these kids jump early if their draft grade is high so they can go get paid. I love college ball and don't even watch the NFL at all. I want these guys to get their money, but I wish we got 4 years out of them in orange. Wa wa I know.

I think they should be in the same ballpark assuming JG is as good as advertised.

For the record, baseline expectations for this year were not to win a national title.

JG will be a freshman..for petes sake will you lunatics stop going overboard. We will do good to win 9 games regular season next year. Obscene expectations create the toxic environment we are dealing with. Anybody not being deliberately blind could see what happened saturday coming. I didn't see losing both OT early in the first, if I had, I would have figured a three TD beatdown at least beforehand. Normal injury rates are part of the game, that's true, but nobody survives the catastrophic wave we are enduring. Bammer wth all their depth would not survive unscathed. Nobody would survive losing 50% of their two deep.

That's my point, nobody is doing what Alabama is doing, including us. Unfortunatly we have to play them at least once or probably twice to have a shot at the playoff. We do not have the talent on the field, sideline, or press box to offer much resistance. It is what it is. I'm not a betting man but if I had to wager, I would bet we don't beat Bama for at least another 5 years. We may never beat them as long as Saban's there.

So what the hell do you wanna do? Just freakin quit? If nobody else is doing it either, then what the crap do you want done about it? Fahr everyody? Who you going to hire that's going to do any better? Urby pussed out and left the SEC cause he saw it coming. He didn't want to be Sabs little beech, so he wimped out and left.

I'll be pretty damn shocked if we drop a game down the stretch. We are playing a bunch of 4-8 SEC East teams. A loss to any of these teams would be the worst loss of Butch's career. In fact, I doubt he's ever lost a team where he was more than a TD favorite, and I really think we'll be around -8 or -9 at the minimum against the rest of these teams.

I mean, we almost lost to App State at full health and struggled with Ohio. We seem to play down to our competition. I could see the Vols sleep walking and getting into big trouble against a fired up South Carolina, Mizzou, or Vandy. Admittedly I have a hard time seeing us lose to TTU or Kentucky.

Did I say I wanted Butch fired? Did I offer any solution? Did I say I wanted to quit? I threw it out there for discussion.

Maybe it's too much for you to handle?

On the field is the biggest problem

2016 College Football Team Talent Composite

Bama has 17 composite five stars. We have one. Our roster average is a three star. Bama's is a four star which is ridiculous for when accounting for 80 something players.

We have to go into that game healthy and he have to play our best game to have a chance.

Peterson at USC or Oregon would be scary. Herman at Texas would be also. Gruden probably will stay in the booth forever. Kiffin is a great OC, someone might take a chance on him again as HC if they are desperate. Petrino can coach and I would be scared if another SEC school (especially LSU) pays his buyout.

Honest question, if fully healthy how many of our players would start or even play for Bama? I know different systems make it kind of hard to judge.

Kamara, Sutton, although bad fits I believe JRM and Barnett, too.

Probably Dobbs

I guess my memory is failing, but what significant injuries did we have last year?

Gaulden, Jackson, and Sanders all missed the entire season after being injured in fall camp. Pig got dismissed from the team. Magitt and Tuttle went down early. North, Croom, Robertson, and Martin all had problems. There were others that missed a game here and there.

Maggitt, Gaulden, Sanders, Marcus Jackson, Tuttle, J Martin, Croom, Bates, Phillips, Butcher.

I knew my memory was bad. But Tuttle had nothing to do with strength and conditioning. Martin's ankle was rolled up in practice as I think I saw that picture. 4 of those guys weren't playing much. It's football.
