That's not totally true. Thomas was moved to starting center over Crowder. There have been some decisions on starters like Jumper and Bynam that seemed to defy logic. However, Kirkland just wasn't ready. He needed to learn the defense and the position. Throwing out blanket negative statements about CBJ and the staff is just not justified. However, it seems you like to throw things against the wall and see if it sticks, hoping for a response.
.

And you gave him one.

The final judge of the abilities of Randolph and McNeil will be the NFL. Even Justin Coleman showed that he had more ability to play the game than he showed at UT. It just took the right situation and the right coaches developing him. Maybe that can happen with R & M. Only time will tell. I am thankful they stuck it out and did the best they could. They get the honor of being guys that led the program back to respectability.

That being said, I doubt there will be any worrisome concerns with who Shoop plays at the positions this fall. Give me TKJr and Evan any and every day of the week. Mix in some Gaulden and I've got zero worries.

College football pundit Phil Steele has a strong track record of projecting who will be in the AP Top 10 in the next year. Steele says he’s been perfect the last two years and 66 of the last 70 over the last seven years.

That’s good news for Tennessee fans for 2016. Steele has projected the Vols at No. 10 in his updated projections. Here’s what he had to say about the Vols:

“After starting 3-4, Tennessee won its final six to finish 9-4 and finish No. 22 in the end-of-season poll. That hardly sounds like a preseason top 10-caliber team — until you examine the four losses. The Vols dominated Oklahoma for three quarters, but blew a 17-3 fourth quarter lead and lost in overtime to a team that made the College Football Playoff. They led Florida 27-14 in the fourth quarter, but lost it late to a Gators team that would reach the SEC title game.

“They lost by four points to Arkansas, and then on the road they only lost to eventual national champion Alabama by five, being out-first-downed 23-21. Tennessee played a lot of freshmen the past few years, but will have to stop using the “we’re young” label as it is now a veteran group with 17 returning starters, including senior quarterback Joshua Dobbs and junior running back Jalen Hurd. The Vols will be the clear-cut favorite to win the SEC East and if the road to the title game is smooth, a win there could put them in the playoffs.”
-Phil Steele.

Would VN have a meltdown if we made it to the playoffs and lost, either in the first round or in the championship game?

I'm going with yes, even though it would amount to a spectacular season.

To be fair, any team in the playoffs and losing would have a meltdown just because of the importance of it JMOIMO

I'd guess it would be the biggest meltdown I've ever seen on here, and I've seen a lot in 6 and a half years.

I'll say no. After what we went through from 08-13 I think our fanbase would be ecstatic.

Then have unrealistic expectations from that point to make the playoffs every year.

No way.

Everyone would overturn cars. I'm already preparing myself for this statement. Mark this post... get ready to bump it, because this is the future....

"If Butch couldn't win it now, with the team he had this season, there's no way that he is the guy. We need someone like _______ to take us to the next level."

As long as Butch Jones is the coach this means nothing. Jones is a conservative coach not only in play-calling but also in personnel decisions.

He'll start the senior even if the underclassmen is more talented. He's more afraid of guys making the wrong calls than if they can make the right play once the bullets are flying.

It took injuries for Chance Hall and Jack Jones to get in the lineup. And we saw the offensive line improve once the young guys got in. Same thing with playing Jumper ahead of Kirkland.

Butch Jones has made bone head decision after bone head decision on who to play.
To be fair, I rewatched the Arkansas game recently and Kelly had the worst game of all our Safeties. He was given a lot of chances, but made some bad mistakes that hurt the defense.

It looked like they wanted him to step up and take McNeil's spot, but he couldn't rise to the occasion. You can't necessarily hold it against the coaches when a player doesn't take advantage of his opportunities.

They are if you're trying to win championships.

I think some of y'all have grown so accustomed to losing you don't understand what a national title contending roster is supposed to look like.

Look at the rosters of the teams who won the last 3 national titles. Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida State did not have many starters on their teams NOT get invited to the combine.

I'm not saying we need first rounders at every position. However, we do need legit NFL prospects at every position if we wanna win national titles.

Randolph and McNeil were not NFL prospects. Thus, they were liabilities compared to what you need if you want to win national titles.

I get what you're saying, but you've failed to comprehend the point I was making about your bombast.

Is it true that the Knoxville media aired surveillance video today of the former UT football player unnamed in the Title IX lawsuit-- the one who was cleared by KPD and UT investigations?

Edit: Yep, I see the KNS ran a screen shot, making it possible to identify him.

That screen shot posted by KNS doesn't really help ID the former player since it was shot from behind.

What really helped ID him was the fact that print accounts of the story said he was a graduate transfer last season and only played against Western Carolina and Vanderbilt. Using this info, it's easy to figure it out.

And then if you disagree with them....

"Face it, the team got to the playoffs because of Shoop, and once he leaves Butch will be revealed for what he is. We had to much talent to lose, and it's all downhill from here if we don't make a change"

That's what I meant. That photo, along with his age and other info, IDs him without naming him... even though no charges were or will be filed and he was cleared of wrongdoing.
