Interview with Mecole Hardman on his recruitment. he discusses tennesssee, bama, georgia, ohio state.. lots of info in this interview.

https://www.dawgnation.com/football...-hardman-jr-snowstorm-sign-god-led-go-georgia

It was a 'sign from God' that a blizzard kept him from going to Alabama? LMAO!

He thinks God cares where he goes to school? He's one out of literally billions of Christians. But no, God apparently decided that he was more important than the other Christians, afflicting the entire southeast with a snowstorm just so Mecole would go to Georgia and not Alabama.

Come on, man. I expect the average star HS athlete to be somewhat self-centered, but this is just another level entirely.

It was posted in the FF

Here are the 10 reasons the Volunteers should be considered among the few teams that could actually win the CFP next season.

-Dobbs is dominant in the SEC
-Thunder + lightning + Dobbs = good backfield
-College football's most experienced receivers?
-Young-ish line is very good
-Historic special teams
-Bob Shoop is a terrific hire
-Aggressive, ball-hawking secondary
-Good luck getting past those Tennessee linebackers
-Good luck dealing with those Tennessee pass-rushers
-UT faces an increasingly rare easy SEC schedule

The bottom line

Tennessee's four losses last season occurred by a total of only 17 points and included contests against the eventual national champion (Alabama), a College Football Playoff team (Oklahoma) and the SEC East division champion (Florida). With the caliber of talent this year's club is returning, the Volunteers ought to be able to close the point gap against elite teams and make a run at their first national championship since 1998.

Love most of the reasons, but I don't know if I'm in agreement with a couple of those-

Most experienced receivers?- Not quite. I'd definitely have Clemson, Alabama, Texas A&M ahead of us in that regard.

And while every SEC schedule has a tough stretch at some point, you'd be hard-pressed to find a rougher 4-game stretch than ours with Florida, @Georgia, @Texas A&M, and then Bama before our BYE.

Heard talk from my buddy in Atl that Grayson is about to hire Rush Propst.

He already makes over $130,000 a year. I can't see a Gwinnett school paying that when there are lots of other schools in the same district. Plus, Colquitt is building a multi sport indoor practice facility. I would be shocked if that were to happen. Would be fun to laugh at the Colquitt folks on the GAVSV boards though.

Bama to disappoint. Pruitt isn't Smart. The Kiffin-Saban relationship hits critical mass. They have to break in another new QB, and I just don't see a ready made Henry replacement.

It seems like you and I have had this conversation before, but every year people say Bama is going to drop off, and every year they win 11+ games. I'm not picking them to disappoint until they actually disappoint. They're just a machine with replaceable parts and pieces.

I think UGA is the wildcard in the East. I really have no idea what to expect from Smart as HC. He certainly has enough talent on that roster to make some noise.

Apologies to HG, but I'm hoping UF disappoints. They got so lucky last year, and they're losing a lot of key players. I think they take a step back. I agree with HG that UK improves. They should finally make a bowl game under Stoops, but I don't see them being a threat to UT.

I think Miss St and Ole Miss drop off a bit as well. Auburn is my wildcard in the west. Nothing would surprise me with them. LSU should be tough as always and may take a nice step forward.

I'm picking UT and Bama as division champs, but if Smart is truly legit as an HC, it wouldn't surprise me to see UGA win the East. It also wouldn't surprise me to see them struggle and Smart be another Muschamp. On paper I think they should be able to beat every team in the East except us, and they get us at home. It just depends on how their new staff gels, how prepared Smart really is for this gig, and whether or not they can find a competent QB.

I resemble that remark. :)

FWIW we are in an era of maybe the best young talent to ever to play the game. Jordan, Rory, Jason, Rickie, Patrick, etc. Add in the accomplished 30 somethings. Hope you are watching Feherty's show. They have been terrific this season.

Back to football. GFW with the take down on Mecole.

Going to a Masters practice round Monday. Spieth is my new favorite golfer.

Wow. Didn't expect Randolph to be anywhere near that speed. Mid 4.6 wouldn't have surprised me.

Good for them. I hope they both get drafted.

Rob Lewis just said Randolph with a 4.4 unofficial on his 2nd 40. Guess we can throw out the notion that he wasn't athletic enough on the back end.

I told him that it won't happen but allegedly the interview happened a few days ago. Some coach from Fl and another from Va also interviewed.

Randolph said he hoped to get 30 reps (which seemed outlandish since the top DB at the combine only got 22 I thought)! Plus he said agents were saying he could only get a 4.7 40 time but he thought he could do 4.5 or 4.4 (would like to know his official times). What a day he's had! He'll be playing Sundays and making some dough. :clapping:
