Oh, he shared information about what happened? I must have read the wrong report because all it mentioned was that the officer TOLD CBJ THAT AN INCIDENT HAD HAPPENED.

No specifics where shared and as CBJ is these players' closest guardian it seems sensible to tell said guardian that something is coming down the pipe.

Would the authorities have contacted joe smiths closest guardian if joe smith was a senior non athlete at UT before evidence was gathered later that day?

If the answer is yes then this is a non issue

Exactly my point and the point made in the article.

That's why the article was worth reading

I didn't read that article, but I read the Tennessean one a day or two ago. It was the Police Chief who called, and he said that was something they had done for years as courtesy. It happens all across the country.

And if the KPD and the university are working together to protect their athletes?

Recall how much hell FSU caught here for just that?

Oh people B!TCHED about it? If I recall no wrongdoing was found. Maybe message boards will absolve them someday.

You're suggesting that the KPD and Butch worked together to cover up a crime--which is funny, since (a) you have no (ZERO!) evidence of that happening and (b) that particular incident is actually being prosecuted.

How do I know he has coaching skills? We'll, he led Bama's defense to 4 NC's. What's on Jones' resume that equals that? Nick Saban, a name you might know, says that Smart is one of the brightest young minds in CFB and will be successful. You might know better than coach Saban. But I'm going with his judgement for now.

Well, seeing as Butch Jones has actually been a HC-- with some success at that--, I'd say that makes his resume infinetly better. Being the DC under the best defensive mind in college football isn't incredibly impressive to me.

Agreed it happens all over the country. It's a good ole boy network that is used to protect athletes.

Remember the lawsuit is suggesting we have an atmosphere of protecting our athletes. This makes me believe that and yes I know it happens a lot of places.

You are missing the point. It doesn't matter if they contacted Butch. If Butch had acted on the information and tried to cover up something, then he committed a crime and it would be a fire able offense. Who cares if he simply knows?

I don't think butch did anything wrong even though the phone records show calls made immediately to AJ after the police call

But I do think this add big time fuel to lawsuit saying knoxville is an atmosphere where athletes are protected

You'll get over it...or you won't. Nobody cares.

I don't. If Butch had done something with the information, then you could argue they were protecting athletes. But they are not protecting them by simply informing their coach. That, in and of itself, does not lead to protecting players.

Or something else contrived would. Facts aren't a necessity in these witch hunts. All they need are enough spazzes and fake experts and WORRYWARTS to "fuel" every little issue. :wink2:

I wouldn't be surprised. Although there is a difference between Joe Smith and Joe Football Player as only one of those situations requires a press conference.

Key thing is if maggitt assaulted Bowles and butch did nothing about it then it makes an easier argument that butch/tenn is protecting it's athletes and also that makes bowled more Believable as well

If Butch ordered the assault, then you sure have some problems. But prove it. Let's move on. I am an attorney, and I get tired of speculation.

You're veering! Stay on one loony accusation at a time! :nono:

If he knew a student under his watch was assaulted and did nothing it's a huge problem

Conflicting reports on that. Maggitt denies it happens. Many on this Board swear it did and Vq has said butch handled it appropriately.

It's the biggest part of this for me. If he didn't protect bowls properly then all the other stuff could snow ball quickly

IMO

You can't ignore me! I already tried to ignore me once and VN decreed that it just can't happen

It's Bowles. Don't respect you anyway, but hard to consider it at all when you misspell commonly known figures in this case.
