If our HC was in the position that your HC is in, I damn sure would't be making any "boat race" comments. I think there's a very good possibility that CBJ could be fired and face criminal charges. You can't interfere with police investigations. Even if you have a liaison and are a HC.

Yeah, stick to on the field stuff....you're wrong about most of it, but don't seem nearly as ignorant as you clearly are about the details and facts regarding the Title IX lawsuit. I think you let someone get under your skin so you got in your feelings a bit and taking a shot at Butch right now is low hanging fruit. You clearly know nothing about Jones' role with the lawsuit....leave it alone, you look silly.

Being raided by the majors before a kid ever takes the field, injuries are more decimating than in football, the competition is tough as hell. Those are three reasons I can think of. Oh, and some of the programs have deep reputations in baseball. S.C. Miss. St. L.S.U and Vandy are some I can think of.

When opposing fans start hoping your coach gets fired for every little thing they can Google, it means you're back. :) Remember, we wanted them to keep Richt there for ever.

What makes it harder? I don't really follow college baseball, so just curious.

As Bruin said, Vandy makes it harder. Their emergence has hurt us. But just overall its every bit as nasty as football in the SEC.

4 of the top 5 are SEC

8 of top 25 are SEC

Alabama and Kentucky are just outside the top 25.

It is ridiculous. Also, in that top 25, 8 other teams are from SEC states.

Ouch. UT used to be pretty good/decent in baseball though, right?

And I'm guessing Raleigh's tanking of the program coincided with Vandy's rise under Corbin, which didn't help matters.

Have any SEC teams that were undergoing major slumps recently broken through and had success?

Pssst, until last season's CMR meltdown and cheap hit against Chubb, which forced him out for the season, UT was:

winless vs. Florida since 2004
winless vs. Alabama since 2006
winless vs. Georgia since 2009

Two of those records still stand. Now you're boat racing?

Cheap hit on Chubb...lol...maybe if he wasn't a soft ***** he would of kept playing.

Get a damn life you pathetic pup fan.

UGA hasn't won a National championship in almost 40 years but you morons wanna come in here and act like you've kept up with Bama winning them.

They are afraid of our team and want anything to happen so we lose our HC. They help to feed the fire that is the Tennesseean

How do I know he has coaching skills? We'll, he led Bama's defense to 4 NC's. What's on Jones' resume that equals that? Nick Saban, a name you might know, says that Smart is one of the brightest young minds in CFB and will be successful. You might know better than coach Saban. But I'm going with his judgement for now.

Just for the record, Saban said the same thing about Dooley. I am not saying Kirby will or will not be good coach, but Saban says that about everyone who leaves his staff.

A&M has really helped the league.

USCe has been a top 5 program the past 5-6 years

Florida is elite now

But some other programs are a little down. Georgia is one.

But in reality only tenn, Georgia, auburn are the only ones that aren't potential Omaha teams. The other 11 could get there

It's worse than that. It starts with a "But what if...", but in a short time the speculation is assumed to be truth and argued as such.

Georgia claims 2 NCs.

1943, 1981

1943 most schools didn't field a team, including UT. A little skirmish known as WWII was ongoing. Very Bama like Georgia.

I think it's completely above board for the local police chief to inform the head coach of a major college athletic program when a player is being accused of and potentially being arrested for a crime. He is responsible for those kids while they're on his team. In addition he needs to make a quick decision on what action he needs to take. Keep in mind if he doesn't act quickly he's accused of coddling to the athlete.

Exactly. A college coach is the surrogate parent for 4-ish years. He/she SHOULD be contacted ASAP.

Non-issue. Moving on.

Dem Vols need to win dat championship.

I wouldn't burn any mattresses or kick any lightbulb buckets if we ended up finishing around #9 in the polls. But a playoff appearance does seem quite feasible for this team given the schedule and landscape of the SEC this season.

Lost all credibility (if there ever was any) on the "cheap hit on Chubb" comment. What about your loser OL - whose cheap shot on Tuttle was so bad that the SEC Commissioner debates putting in a procedure for suspending players when they commit a clear intentional foul like that when it results in injury.

If that had happened in the NFL he would have been fined and suspended.

Someone got under his skin? Well it certainly wasn't me, and I certainly didn't do it of my own volition :)

Yeah, they could have all conspired to have the alleged victim murdered.

Or they could have elaborately planned for AJ to have weed, a grinder, and pertinent evidence in his room.

Or they could have just discussed the 50 shades of grey movie.

Or they could have done Mad-Libs over the phone.

I agree 100% percent with you that we should
Be wringing our hands over all the things that could have happened and annoying everyone else on the board.

It's like we're the only ones who can see things straight and everybody else is crazy! Weird, right?

Edit: keep posting page after page of pointless speculation if you agree.

LOL. This needs way more likes.

To be fair, actions speak louder than words. I agree coach speak is always "yeah, he's a good 'un". I've never heard a coach publicly say otherwise. With that said, you can tell how much a coach means by how hard they try to keep them. Saban never did all he could to keep Dools. Smart, completely different story. Look at his raises and his pay. Heck, he made more at Bama than 80% of CFB's HC.

Look at all the times he convinced him not to take another job including Auburn and South Carolina. Smart was USCjr first pick, he said no. When momma called, Saban again at least wanted him thru the playoffs to help win. No clue on how good a HC he will be, no one does. I will say it is no secret that Smart was the axle for Bama's recruiting. He was the one who put in the work, per every recruit.

So, that said, Dools vs Smart isn't comparable for one reason, recruiting. Dools sucked at recruiting, did I mention he sucked. Every 2 or 3 star was a diamond in the rough. If there is anything Vol fans know, they know you have to have the jimmy and joes. That is 2/3 of the battle. If UGA gets Robertson the 2016 class is top 5 and it's hard not to think Smarts class going forward will not be top 5 every year. Heck, look at the name of this thread and what he just did, pulled the state #2 kid for 2018 who happens to be buddies with the #2 2017 kid and is working on convincing TL to go to Ga instead of Tn, his home state. Not good...
