D4H, you need to listen to TJ Moe, former WR for Mizzou, on the Swain Event. Go get the podcast for today and skip to about 2:30 and listen to him discuss Dobbs. He observed that Dobbs last year was hesitating on his reads and that is something he has to improve on. He gave some examples. Professional assessment... he watches a lot of film. :)

Will do.

That's actually one of the reasons I think he'll be a lot better next year. Familiarity with the system and reads. Better anticipation. Its this sort of natural QB evolution that comes with time and experience that'll prove to be the biggest catalysts for a stellar senior year.

Come on HG, don't go D4H on us. This post smells a little homer-ish to me. Curious - where would you put Florida's, and then UT's front 7 on the list?

SEC post-spring position rankings: Front seven - SEC Blog- ESPN

He's actually right. David is the best returning LB in the country and Brantley is a first round talent. I also like Quincy Wilson and Marcus Maye in the secondary. Florida's defense is still talented.

We're better though. Both in the front 7 and the secondary.

However, Jalen Tabor is still overrated.

And Joseph and Neal are clear 2nd rounders but were taken so early

Nope. Those are 2 of the best picks in the first round. Future pro bowlers. Especially Joseph who I think wins defensive ROY. He's the second best player in the draft after Elliott IMO. Especially after the news that Myles Jack needs microfracture surgery.

Has a grand total of ZERO snaps.

I'm aware of that. You said we need to find a tackle. He's our tackle. He's a 5* redshirt freshman with glowing spring practice reports. About the best you can ask for when you're "finding a tackle" which would imply you don't have someone with experience ready to step into the position.

Worst case scenario, we start Kendrick for a few games until Drew is ready.

1500?!! 2000!!? My lord...are you mental?

No. He's the 2nd best back to enter the draft in the last 10 years (after Adrian Peterson) and he'll be running behind an o-line with 4 first rounders while having a pro bowl QB and top 3 WR to keep defenses honest.

This is kind of the ideal situation. And on top of that he's a generational talent. It's actually kinda easy.

You don't see how having a fake college with almost all gravy classes to keep players eligible could give a team an advantage?

You don't see how said fake college with mega-easy classes could help attract certain players in the first place, giving the team another advantage?

Maybe a misleading article, it states that when the injured become healthy this will be a much better unit come fall. I believe this ranking reflected what was available for the spring, if so pretty accurate. If this is not the case someone needs to watch some film. JMO

Yep. Derek Barnett and Tuttle were both omitted from consideration in these rankings.

Yes. Elliot is decent, but not really a transcendent player like D4H is pretending. Hell, Gurley was a better prospect in terms of top end talent last year.

I would say Gurley is slightly more talented given his greater size and slightly faster speed. But the durability concerns knock Gurley behind Elliott IMO. I still don't think Gurley has a long career.

Lol at the ppl on this board whining about unc basketball not getting a severe punishment if you know anything about that case you would understand why they didn't. Sure the ncaa sucks but don't use an academic scandal as the same example of the ncaa turning a blind eye to big money maker programs that give money to recruits and their families to get them to play for their team they are just not the same type cheating to gain an advantage on field/court

Seriously? Education is at the very core of what the NCAA does. They call them "student athletes." Sham.

Edit: They both go hand and hand. If the NCAA is going to allow sham classes, then they may as well allow payments to players. If they aren't amateurs getting class credit, then they may as well be paid.

Tackle has been a weakness for 2 years along with pass protection.

Assuming that we have that fixed with a redshirt freshman taking the starting spot is not something I'm ready to do.

I hear ya. We will know more in the fall. If Richmond isn't ready, Kendrick will start, and he at least has some experience (and also had a great spring camp).
