SEC Wired: Butch Jones - ESPN Video

"Clutch plays, clutch plays you're either winning or your losing, no grey area."

There is a difference between passion and emotion, we don't like emotional people we like passionate people. There is a difference, emotional teams ride the roller coaster, that's not us. We're are an older veteran team now, we are mature, we take it one snap at a time."

This is directly to the team and what he has been saying to the media as well. Glad to see him speaking the truth this season and knowing he has no excuses.

I like the message to the team, keeping all the practice situation like end of game close winning and losing type situations as that was our one weakness last year.

12-1 SEC Champs coming!!!

Okay, so if butch is looking for 11 wins this is how I think it plays out.

We win the first 4 and are ranked in the top 10.

We then lose to UGA and go to No. 15.

We then win out and finish ranked in the top 5.

Setting up an epic SEC championship for a shot at the playoffs.

(UGA screws up and gets 2 SEC losses so we win the East)

Not willing to give kirby smart his signature win in his first season as a head coach. How about Tennessee just crushes uga between the hedges leaving kirby mumbling nick, nick, nick over and over, even into his post game press conference... :)

Then we finish out the season as you predicted.

The best comparison I saw to Leicester City would be if you took the Kansas and UCF teams from last year, and then combined them into 2 teams. One with all the best players and one with all the scrubs. And then the scrubs went undefeated in the SEC and beat #1 Clemson and then #2 Oklahoma in the playoff to win the championship.

There's a part in Clay Travis's book "On Rocky Top" (about the 2008 season) where he sees a drunk UT fan crying in a bar on the Strip after the Florida loss because the Vols' season is already over (they were 1-2) and it wasn't even fall yet (the game was on Sept. 20).

Clay promised me he would keep that private.

Yes would much rather be 5-0 and top 3 and slip up @ Texas A&M after the hype overflows but refocus to come back and beat #1 Bama in Knoxville!

Everybody planning out losses.

How about no.

Never plan to lose. Never expect to lose. Never accept losing. If you do, you will lose. Plan to win. Expect to win. Know you will win. The winning mentality is what Butch brings to Knoxville. I expect that our boys will win every single game this year.

For the few English soccer fans we have here, how about Leicester City?

Not to have a long off-topic discussion, but even if you don't follow soccer, you should read this.

Leicester City win Premier League pull off most unlikely feat in sports history - ESPN FC

To put it into perspective, it would be something like a 2-11 team winning the national championship the next season in football, with basically the same players. Incredible stuff.

I think Clay Travis posted something like at the beginning of the season they were 5000-1 odds to win.

Vandy is around a 1000-1 odds to win the BCS.

Oh and I hate soccer

Bama tho...

Not sure why we can't beat them. Our guys were all just as highly recruited and have played a lot more football than the guys coming in for Bama. We have a better QB, better RB's and they are replacing more on the OL.

They only return I think 4 starters on D and our guys are just as good or not better at a lot of those positions. Plus, we are at home.

It's not that we CAN'T. It's just that it's likelier we will lose to them than beat them. They've had years to build their dynasty and they're always really, really good. Maybe we will beat them. We certainly have a shot, I just don't think it's any better than 45-55.

How bout we don't slip up at all?

I hate when folks predict is to loss. Either get on the 15-0 train or don't say anything at all.

Only Bama is ranked higher than the Vols in preseason polls. In at least one poll, the Vols are ranked higher than any of our opponents. Based on this, 12-0 is the goal and 11-1 is the floor for the regular season. We need to sweep the East to control our own destiny, and a L to either UF or UGA could jeopardize that. Expectations are high-- as they should be.

You are the last person that needs to be telling other posters not to say anything at all. You literally spew more bull-s*** out of your mouth than anyone else in VN history. It's embarrassing how wrong you are about everything ALWAYS. Please quit posting.
