I am certainly not as serious of a follower of UT baseball as some others, but I do casually watch every year. The close followers have suggested for a while now that the problem with UT baseball is not just coach related. There are things that our AD just doesn't invest in as compared to other SEC programs. IMO, we can't just make a coaching change and think that alone will help the problem. You have to give the coach tools to win.

Then we better get someone who can recruit some ball players weighing more than 160 who can hit the ball to get people willing to come to the games. Get a guy who will sell the program and can reach the fans. Then spend some $$$$ and give him the support he needs.

We need Todd Helton as head coach and Bubba Trammel as bench coach.

Bubba we might could talk into it. Todd not so much.

Not sure recruiting was a problem under Serrano. Maybe recruiting high level pitchers. But he had several ranked classes, and he also had several players that got drafted and never made it to campus. This year, there were a couple of season ending injuries that didn't help either.

The heat is on: Ten games with the highest stakes in 2016

Vols vs Gators is the most "high-stakes" game in CFB in 2016 according to Chris Low.

I get why people are putting so much emphasis on this game, but if it weren't for the streak no one would give it nearly this level of attention.

If the Vols are as good as people think, this game will take care of itself. I've decided I'm done wit obsessing about beating UF. The last two years broke me. It'll happen when it happens.

Recruiting depends on this game. Kids are waiting. Only so many fancy slogans you can throw out there before people start demanding results.

A loss to Florida this year with this talent would be devastating.

I'd put him on the hot seat with a FL loss. Enough is enough.

(Unless we win the East, but I don't think that's going to happen if we lose to FL)

Been thinking about this scenario.

Tennessee goes 10-2 in the regular season with losses vs. Alabama and @ Texas A&M.

SEC Championship we beat Alabama.

Anyone think we still get in the CFP?

Article mentioned an "avalanche" should we lose. Could result in more losses which would seal the fate of this class.

I think it's crazy to talk hot seat going into a season where we are ranked top 10. This is an important game for sure. We SHOULD win.

Agreed. And I know it would depend on other teams records and other factors, but I think that's a very realistic scenario.

I think it might be better than 50/50 after thinking about it.

A 2 loss SEC championship team should get in with the way the committee is supposed to value conference champions

Man...all this hype is reminding me of 2005. It's time we rid ourselves of all this bad juju and END this streak.

Perhaps this is the year that we truly come out of the slide that began in 2005. The streak against UF started that season. It would be fitting if it ended in a year with 2005-level hype but hopefully with vastly different results.

Or maybe we'll go 6-6 or something. That would be pretty Vols, too.

How will A&M stop us from running the ball?

And count losses IF they happen. Realistic chance this team could go undefeated.

Hot seat may be pushing it in some regards, but I can't argue against it either. UT needs to have a coach that can win the big games. If Butch continues to lose to our rivals with the talent he now has, the question then becomes "when will he ever do it?" I understand the logic that if we get rid of him now it looks bad blah blah blah. But I can't argue against those thinking that with this team and how talented we are this year, losing to UF (and adding on how we lost the last 2 years to them) should be a "coach, you are coming to the end of your rope" sorta mentality. There comes a time when enough is enough. 4 years is quite a while.

Honestly, I'm setting myself up for a 10-2 season. And now as I type this I am readying myself for your post about who I think we lose to. But still, the sky is the limit for this team. We have the ability to go the distance this year. I believe A&M have good WR, but the QB position is a big ?. That defense is always screwing up somehow and allowing a lot of yards even with that good DL that has mini Barnett. At this point in time with what we know about both teams A&M should be a win. They have some ?'s in big areas about their team right now, IMO.

Rarely is this true.

Well technically it's not just this game. It's a culmination of big games. Recruits need to see us get over the hump. This game is pivotal. Win and continue our March to Atlanta. Lose and ... well I will start with a new TV because I'm going to throw the one on my wall in the pond behind my house.

Plus they have leadership issues. QBs leaving like crazy and they just seem flat out SOFT. You all saying we lose 2 games are fine. You're by yourself but fine. Lol I just know we've got THE team top to bottom in the SEC this year. Only question mark for us is at WR and if a playmaker will be found(talent is there for sure). Far less problems than anyone else on the schedule. And the talent is at every position plus it's experienced talent. I'm ready to get the ball rolling this fall. 😁
