Speaking of AJ, aren't his and Mikes trials coming up soon? Would be wonderful if they were found innocent after all this hoopla. Hopefully the text messages will be able to be used as evidence.

Got postponed indefinitely as they are trying to get access to all social accounts including text messages to be used in the trial, I believe.

So, after 3 years of Butch, and 3 years of Dooley, who wants to make an "all-Vol" team? Some will obviously overlap.

I'll take offense

WR CP84 Dooley's
WR DaRick Dooley's
TE Rivera Dooley's
RB Hurd Butch
RB Kamara Butch
QB ... Whew... Bray. Super tough call. Dooley's
OL James, Stone, Fulton, tiny, Jackson

Dooley had the offensive power, and still stunk. Thanks, Dooley

I had to chuckle when I saw this. This was also when Chaney was the OC. The stink could be spread over several of these.

In the three opening games that everybody thought would be closer than expected or that TN stood a chance to be outright upset (WKU, Utah State, and Bowling Green) the scores were 52-20, 38-7, and 59-30.

App State will punch around for a quarter or two, but that will be about it.

“The talent is there,” Solomon said. “There’s no doubt they should be the favorite based on talent, based on who’s returning. I still have to see it to believe it with Tennessee these days. We hear it every year – they’re back, they’re back.

“They’re clearly headed in the right direction. But they’ve got to close out some of these big games: the Florida game, the Oklahoma game. Those are games that just linger. If you can win a couple of those games, yeah, you’re SEC East division champions. You’re a top-10 caliber program. But I can’t put them in the top 10 yet. I could pick them to win the East. I’m just not sold yet.”

I know there's a shred of truth to it, but I'm so sick of that narrative that Tennessee has been some sort of decade long choke extravaganza.

You haven't heard it every year (at least from anyone with sense). GTFO with that.

I wonder what he says about Georgia, if he thinks that about us.

Its such a lazy opinion.

Makes a ton more sense to say Tennessee has been on a rough road back to the national scene, and they wilted in their first attempts to kick down the door last year. This is truly the first year with almost universally agreed expectations, and it will be interesting to see if Tennessee is up to the challenge.

It looks like that to the uninformed. Prior to two years age, even with half the talent we needed to compete, we would be within spitting distance of huge upsets. If you thought we had the talent to be there, those games looked like choke jobs. There is just a lazy narrative you can build by looking at the scores of TN games for the last 5 years.

2014, FL. 10-9
2013, GA 34-31 in OT, Vandy 14-10
2012, GA 51-44, SC 38-35, Missou 51-48 in OT

That plus the first half of last season makes it easy to write TN chokes in the big games. Fortunately, those people will have to shut up after this coming season. We are back.

Technically, WKU wasn't an opener, but yes, people thought we would have a tough time. Truth is, they did. If they hadn't turned the ball over 5 times in 6 plays, it would've been close. They outgained us 393-382.

Their screw-ups and turnovers count as plays also...we outplayed them.

I've never understood this argument as a way of negating what happened.

Turnovers are a vital part of the game; UT forced WKU to turn the ball over and it wasn't close because of it.
