Hmm... interesting. I think the Vols dropping all the way to the MCB while an improved UK moves up to a Florida bowl creates a negative perception for a school that desperately needs something positive. The MCB feels so Dooley to me.

I don't think you're wrong, but at this point too ambivalent to get worked up over it.

If UK goes to the Taxslayer and UT is bumped down to the MCB, how pissed will Vol fans be?

I don't really consider Taxslayer as that much more prestigious than MCB, but your scenario may be heading that direction. Taxslayer Bowl Twitter feed posted this earlier today:

None of those teams have a better record than UT and we beat two of them head-to-head. The perception of UT has turned.

Based on something I read, we can't go to the TaxSlayer bowl this year. They only take any particular team once every three years.

FYP...it's bad enough as is, let's not revise our history to make things even worse! (I know you were referring to the SEC teams, but I'm trying for anything positive at this point!)

Or we went there 2 years ago......

Our fans will turn out for a bowl game which means $$$. I doubt Jacksonville left UT off that list by choice.

You don't think we'll perform worse on the DL by losing the best DL player we've had in 20+ years?

As for the rest, I noted I was talking about from the beginning of the year. If we are using the defense from the mispoint on, you're right, the won't be worse, because they were about as bad as you can get.

We'll be worse at left DE. Where else?

Apparently Basilio tweeted out that Butch had accepted the HC job at Oregon. And then he deleted it shortly after. Does Basilio normally troll like that?

K. Winning against Wisconsin would ease the sting some for me. I bet at least a few would agree

Since we aren't getting a new coach, a major staff overhaul would be the closest thing to try and chance my current opinion. (Would require upgrades). Bowl win won't... Plus I doubt we get a chance with a team like Wisconsin. Bowl game meant more last year.

Most bowls aren't slotted based on success anymore. It's about money. Just like when we were the benefit of the TaxSlayer Bowl two years ago at 6-6. The system isn't great, but most people don't care after the 4 playoff teams are set.

Curious as to what you guys think will be big improvements over the current coaching staff? Shoop isn't going anywhere, and Debord didn't seem to be the problem after Hurd left. So are we thinking major upgrades at position coaches?

UGA played in the Taxslayer in 2014 and 2016, so it's the Outback that won't take the same team in 2 out of 3 years. The Taxslayer Bowl passed on UT. Auburn and UF will get the Sugar and Citrus, so UK will probably get the Taxslayer.

Debord is fine when he opens up the playbook. He gets conservative with a lead and if he doesn't think he has to let loose, he holds back. Maybe that's Butch, but whoever is calling the plays needs to let loose. Absolutely inexplicable the games where Dobbs was basically forbidden to run this year and last
