I think it's pretty clear Butch isn't going anywhere. So in 2017, how many games does he have to win to be considered safe? And the other question is, if is successful, does he get hired away and leave us?

More than 8 and the East I think it's East or bust next year

How many games would we need to win to turn you into a posiVol sunshine pumper? Also, would you then leave to follow another team that underachieved so you could return to your Eyeore way of thinking?

The number of wins is dependent on the losses. If we were 10-1 with only a loss to Alabama, and then lost to a 4-7 Vandy to knock us out of SEC championship game, chance for play-offs, etc. how could the heat not get turned up? That's my biggest issue with this year...stop crapping the bed in games you should win. Especially when the losses can be placed squarely on the shoulders of execution and TO's. Shouldn't be an issue, but it is. FIX IT.

So we're going to pay DeBord $600,000 then hire a high-octane Co-OC like Helfrich for another mil or so? We don't need both. And we certainly don't need to pay DeBord $600K to coach the OL.

I'll believe it when I see it on Hef but in terms of salary it could work. Considering most coordinators get paid in millions for teams wanting to win big. So you take Mahoneys money plus take into consideration the difference in what Debord makes compared to others. I don't see us spending like that though.

Hef is getting paid a buyout so might would come cheaper than usual

I read an article recently that WVU coach turned down an extension prior to the season.

I know that barring an 8+win season this year, he was gone. They nearly fired him last year, now they're sitting at 9-2 with a horrible Baylor this weekend.
I did read that Holgorson just this year finally bought a house in Morgantown.

West Virginia and Cal are the two that could potentially open up that I would watch.

This we agree on. I could also see Arizona St, Arizona, Texas Tech or UCLA, but those will not likely open up till next year, absent a dramatic sea change.

I don't follow that program much but just the fact that you heard about them playing teams tough makes me wonder what the heck they are doing

He took them from a 1-11 record to 2 straight bowl games in 4 years. Definitely seems surprising to me

Arizona State maybe. Arizona no way. Zero chance they fire Rich Rod to hire Rich Rod lite.

Houston considering Miles, Kiffin, and Briles per ESPN

That's interesting. Kiffin would only be there for 2-3 years, not sure Miles would be a good fit, so Briles might be the best option and could give them 5-7 good years.

Report said their BOT are reviewing options to bring him in.

He doesn't deserve another chance
